View Full Version : Local five & eleven aside football players wanted/available
Hi,
Is anyone here in an under-21/under-18 (or similar age) football league that operates specifically in the Sheffield region. I have been looking for one to join next year (when I'll be 17) but as of yet, all have been full Senior leagues or have involved travelling as far as Maltby.
Pitz is no good as I need an 11-a-side team that can play on grass.
So, I am looking for a league that is based in Sheffield and which is relatively cheap, as in a one-off registration fee. I don't really want to be playing amongst 22+ year olds but I can't travel further than the Sheffield borders.
Also, are there any leagues (besides Pitz) that I can run an original team from?
Many thanks,
Rican
Rican my team play in the Sheffield District Fair Play League on Saturday Morning we are Bochum Rangers we play at Meadowhead my son plays for me and he is 17 years old if your interested in playing we train at Tennis & Graves on Monday Night 18.45 we will dicuss money if you want to play and what position do you play
Thanks Tony

hi lookin for people that might be interested in playing a game of football once a week on a saturday or sunday nothing serious just for a kick about pm me or reply if interested.
alejandro 21-03-2004, 14:22 Hi, i´m spanish and i´m moving to sheffield the 1 st of april.
I have speak with some people that have been before in UK, they said that i should take my fooball shoes there. THEY CONVINCED ME.
So, i´ll like to know where to go to play a bit, or find people that likes football and play from time to time.
The firsts days i´ll very busy, but then i´m sure i´ll like to play.
Although, i like crosstraining too. Raids and things like this.
Wish to meet you soon
Sorry about my English, this is the reason i´m moving to UK
Get down to the Pitz nr Attercliffe, it is a 5 a side soccer centre and you can always get in a team or get a game there.
go to swillsboro you could choose where to play they need a few players..infact if you know something about tactics you could even become the next manager...but you only get the job for a few months as they like to rotate managers regularly...he he he
S12_MATT 27-07-2004, 09:35 I have been in Sheffield for a while now but I would like to start playing sunday league football again. I live in gleadless and if somebody can help I would appreciate it.
I would also like to play for a 5-a-side team if there are any places going.
I just want to play again!
I guess you must be quite good if you have played sunday league before? I would like to have an occassional evening 5-a-side game at Concorde - more of a friendly knock-about rather than anything too serious. Would this be of interest?
Ned Ludd 27-07-2004, 14:23 You aren't giving much away Matt. eg. age ,height, position, last club. I think you need to sell yourself:)
S12_MATT 27-07-2004, 15:21 Heres the stats
Age: 24
Height: 6ft2
Position: Midfield
I played for the Bay Horse in Sheffield about 5 years ago.
I still play regular 5-a-side for my works team.
Anybody sold?
Hmmm not sure if I'd be up to your standard - I play with the old boys at work at can just about keep up for an hour. Will be on hol for 2 weeks in August so may check back early Sep.
S12_MATT 29-07-2004, 14:22 Come on. There must be some teams holding trials or something.
Looks like I will be stopping home on Sundays!
Ned Ludd 02-08-2004, 13:13 Hunters Bar play Saturdays (which rules out most ardent Blades/Owls fans)

I've just moved down to sheffield from north lincs, and am looking for a sunday league football team to play for, have played to reasonable level, as was a trainee with Hull City up to under 16's. If anyones looking for players would be greatful if you replied.
Dick_Turpin 17-11-2004, 09:00 Mr. Skinner. Are you a centre back ? Or a 20 a season hitman ?

Ned Ludd 18-11-2004, 09:15 Now then Dick, don't they play on Saturdays?
Dick_Turpin 18-11-2004, 09:19 Aye. But it's a better standard and theres not as many drunken pie munchers trying to break your legs because they still have face on becasue they failed to pull or get in a fight on Saturday night !
MrSkinner 18-11-2004, 09:32 Erm, neither im a left back, left midfield. Il send an email to your gaffer, thanks for the info.
Saturday's are just as good for me, however i work 1pm thro to 9pm during the week so i'm doubtful i'll be able to go to training, is that a major problem? i keep myself fit as i run during the week. cheers

Dick_Turpin 24-11-2004, 11:36 Mr Skinner. It seems there may be a place on the left hand siode of our team coming up with recent events so. Would be good to see if you can come along and slot in.
huntersbarfc@hotmail.com:)
Hi, Im looking for a footy team which plays on a Saturday or Sunday league. I played untill a few years ago but i have just got my fitness back.
I play centre or left back, but have played upfront (more bruiser than a Bergkamp) in the past. Bit rusty but nothing a bit of training wouldnt sort out.
I live in Woodseats but will bus it pretty much anywhere.
Does anyone know of any teams looking for extra players?
lee (this is my birds login thing)
Ned Ludd 06-12-2004, 08:41 Hi, Hunters Bar are looking for a centre back with a good disciplinary record for Saturday football. I'll let the manager know about your posting.

Hello,
I'm up for football on a Sunday, not every Sunday but more often than not. I used to play on Saturdays in Leeds a couple of seasons ago but lately have only been playing five-a-side for the firm I work for. Oh yeah, left footed midfielder/striker if that helps...........
Cheers,
Dave.
we are starting training up in a couple of weeks if you fancy coming along to that first

this is for your mate
The best thing to do , is start a team with about 8 players including yourself --- any mates who are fairly good, and get your team started off. its easy enough once you get started
(At the Pitz on Woodbourn Road Attercliffe)
best of luck
CockneyMafia 07-04-2005, 13:46 Does anyone fancy playing regular indoor 5-a-side football on a Thursday evening at Hilsboro leisure centre?
Its not a league, but it is a decent competitive standard between a group of us.
Problem is, recently, we have had a lot of players drop out for various reasons, and we are looking to keep it going as we have a block booking.
Anyone interested, let me know!
Cheers
Mike

smilingarthr 17-04-2005, 13:31 Hi Briggy
Definitely interested in joining a team next season; I'm a student at Sheff Uni and I'm not going to be around for much of the summer, but I'd be interested in training as much as possible before I head off. I don't know how to contact you other than through this forum- could you e-mail me at smilingarthur@yahoo.com, and let me know some contact details- it would be useful to know whereabouts you guys train and play so I can see whether it's practical to get to and from training/matches.
Cheers,
Joe

We were formed 2 years ago and play our home games in Norton, although we have a strong core set of players ready for next season, we are looking to add to this set of players.

tom_a_west 28-04-2005, 00:29 Hi
can anyone help me. I have just become the captain of a 5-a-side team playing at the pitz (powerleague at woodburn stadium) on a tuesday night as we have lost 2 defenders and one striker and am looking to replace them but I dont know where to turn.
I am looking for 3 players to play THIS TUESDAY AND ONWARDS with the positions as was mentioned before (2 defenders and one striker, although defenders are a PRIORITY). If anyone is interested, could they PM me with a way to contact them , along with where they would like to play as well as to send a photo to tom.a.west@gmail.com if possible.
No commitments are needed however ONLY SERIOUS PEOPLE PLEASE, NO HOAXES.
it will cost approx £3.50 a week, depending on how many players we have. this is the price if all 8 players turn up. PLAYERS MUST PAY, NO EXCEPTIONS.
We are all 17/18 year-olds attending sheffield college, however, ANYONE is welcome to play. anyone that is accepted will have their names posted on here to tell you that the position has been filled.
The Kick Off times will be posted as soon as know what they are.
Please help me and my team.
Tom

WE NOW HAVE A WEBSITE. WWW.FREEWEBS.COM/WEWILLRETURN
If i can catch a lift up there I will be willing to play. Without been to modest, I'm a very good centre half. I used to play for sheff wed youth team. I'm currently playing in the county senior, but i want to participate in 5 - side cause it is good for the fitness!
Which league so you hope to register with? I know that the league sin Sheffield have a variety of different talents. Meadowhall notably being littered with ex pro's or people who were released by clubs as juniors. Then their are those that think or tell you they used to be at a club but didnt.
tjwilson 29-04-2005, 07:13 The team plays in the Meadowhall Sunday League Division One. We play our home games at Norton Playing fields. If you are interested let me know

Any Teams Need a Goalkeeper for 11- a side football?
Hi tony, i read your reply to rican, and wondered if there is an age limited for the team, as im 18, and 19 at the end of may, and im a goalkeeper, and information will be helpful cheers
Rich
Hi, me and some mates have a football team, and we want to enter a league. Do you know any good leagues we can join and how we can join. We would like the league not to be too expensive however as we found one league that charges too much.
Thanks for all your help, Arnold
youwhatref 04-05-2005, 13:00 Arnold,
Is it for Saturday or Sunday? Several leagues on a Sunday The best league in my opinion is the Meadowhall League which has a decent standard. i believe it costs more to be in and i think (may be wrong) that you must have changing rooms for both teams and the referee.
Others are Blades Super Drawer League (also known as Sunday sports), Regional Alliance, Sunday Imperial & Sunday Nomads.
If you want any info or maybe numbers (or Saturday leagues) let me know or PM me
It doesnt matter which day its on really, we just want to play in a league. The standard however we dont want to be too good as we are not exactly the best team in the world and we are around 17-18 years old. Id love some numbers though and any contacts anyone has.
youwhatref 04-05-2005, 15:30 Hi, I've sent you a reply. Quite a few leagues have younger players in, if you were all young there is the U18 league.
Away from that you have a big choice on Sunday compared to Saturday as i think on Saturdays people either work or go to a match.
Glad to help
tom_a_west 04-05-2005, 22:21 I was in a similar situation to you, however, an alternative is the powerleague 5-a-side every sun, mo, tues, wed or thursday night. Thats where we play and we have good fun and is relatively cheap
Hey, im jus after some basic info, on either getting a football team started on a sunday(what options there are), or if anyone knows of somewhere that is wanting people?
Thanku :)

CockneyMafia 06-06-2005, 13:38 Is anyone interest in playing 5-a-football on a Monday and / or Thursday?
It's not a league, but it is a decent standard, and whilst competitive, we don't take ourselves too seriously!
The group has recently succumbed to a spate of injuries, and we also have a few lads leaving Sheffield, so are looking for anyone who would be interested on a regular basis so we can keep the sessions ticking over.
beansfeast 06-06-2005, 13:40 Hi
I may be interested, but it depends on where you train and play. Also, what times do you play?
Cheers
/\ what he said- am interested!!!
CockneyMafia 06-06-2005, 14:29 We play on a Monday at Broomgrove Road, off Ecclesall Road (Sheff Hallam Astroturf pitch) at 8pm.
We play on a Thursday at either the above location, or at Powerlaegue in Attercliffe, usually 7.45pm.
beansfeast 06-06-2005, 14:39 Sorry, but in that case I think I live a bit too far away to make travelling across the city worthwhile, cheers though!
I'd love to play but these times are far too late, maybe if started at 6 would be better!
Im posting this for a friend, he used to play 5 a side at pits thursday night and also played for Fairways few seasons ago, after playing 5 a side a few seasons he has decided to go for 11 a side again.
So anyone who knows teams wanting players please get intouch.
He's 25 and can play on the left basically anywere,
Thanx
