hullo... dunno if anyone remembers me, prolly not! aint been around on here in ages, maybe as much as a year.

im a sheffield ex-pat (ha!) and recently have really been seriously considering moving back to the old town.

dont know if this post is really appropriate, but the moderator can always delete it if not...basically my life here has fallen apart and i'm wondering about moving back to sheffield, but i'm in two minds because although i love the place, i'm also firmly of the opinion that there's no going back, only forward.

i know you guys'll all be biased in sheffield's favour! but maybe you can remind me of its good and bad points and the dangers of running away from your problems (ha!)

the problems i found whilst living there were, everything i loved was shutting down, i couldnt get a job, and landlords are eeevil eeevil eeeeeeeeevil!

but i also loved it because it's a beautiful city, looks especially gorgeous in spring, it's very green (i'm not really an urban kind of girl), it's small enough that you can get around easily without being late, i dont get shouted or leered at on the street, i have some old friends there, there are cool places where you can see bands play, loads of places where you can get vegetarian food, and the fat cat is the best pub in the world ever

i dunno what to do!

I wouldn't worry too much about the "you can never go back" thing - why set yourself limitations? You should do what feels right. People "go back" all the time and are very happy. I think it applies more to relationships than locations. You are obviously quite keen on it, and there are worse things you could do, like move on somewhere else where you're not happy either.

Where do you live now? I'm taking a guess at London.
