Does anyone know why the "Page Rank" button on my web browser has gone ? ! ? I can get it to appear as a drop down window (by clicking "More>>" ), but I really want it on all the time.
It happened on my home PC a few weeks ago, and now it`s disappeared from my work PC. I`m using IE8 (with Google toolbar ?).

Here`s a thing, on my PC at work, at the bottom of the drop down "More>>" list it gives the option "show all buttons", doing so restores the page rank button. But on my PC at home this option isn`t available. The only difference between the two is work PC is on XP, ad the home lap top is on Vista, but surely that shouldn`t make any difference ?

I thought I`d put "Where has my page rank button gone" into Google, and this thread on Sheffield Forum came top, despite the fact I have my location set to "London" on Google !
Anyway, I found quite a number of people asking this same question, so I`m a bit surprised there didn`t seem any interest in this question on here.
What seems to be the correct answer is if you click "More>>", then "Back links", it seems to bring the button back on permanent display on the tool bar. Don`t know why, but there we are....

I`m not an IT expert, but I think you download and install the Google toolbar, then go into Tools (spanner icon), then Options, then Privacy, then tick Enhanced Features and Use Page Rank.

Whilst pagerank still exists, Google no longer update the rank of a website to the general public. Essentially they created something and too many SEO "Experts" used it as a means to say "I am a good SEO" - because pagerank is not the only part of the algorythm to determine SERPS.

So, what i'm saying is - if a webpage shows a pagerank of say 3, its possible that in actual fact the pagerank is now completely different......so don't do things like buy and sell links based on pagerank.

Good thing too. I was frequently surprised at the number of aerials websites with far less info on than mine, and fewer links, which were, apparently, ranked higher, or the same.....
