i've always thought this was one of the best christmas songs ever, but after seeing some documentary a few people said how it was the worst song george michael has ever written (obviously not heard wam rap). I was a bit shocked..just wondering how alone i am in actually liking the song?

ok the video makes it sooooooo much more cheesy... so i'll go for cheesy class :)

Cheesy class definately.

James Dean Bradfield's accoustic version on TFI Friday a few years back was pretty cool.

Had to vote for cheese I'm afraid. Perhaps if we had had cheese with the merest hint of class, I might have been persuaded to vote accordingly.

The very genre 'Christmas song' is a euphemism for industrial strength, full fat, unpasteurised, cholesterol packed cheese IMHO but heh it's Christmas so what the hell!

Cheesiest Christmas song ever? Hmm, toss up between Cliff's Mistletoe and Wine, or his Millennium Prayer IMO.

I think it's a decent song with an excellent vocal. I also believe that it sold over 2 million units despite not getting to number 1 (held off by the first incarnation of Band Aid).

It could be argued that it's the simplest song old Poppalopadis ever wrote. It only contains these chords: D / Bm / G / Em / A throughout (the chorus is the same as the verse).

Another ambiguous love song, not mentioning whether the person George 'gave his heart to' was male or female.

Morrissey, one may recall, wrote songs in a similar vain although spared us the snow scenes and flickering eye lids over the dinner table.
