Is it true that Estate Agencies is the only professional career where you don't actually have to have a qualification to operate?

I know it's best to have one and that there are qualifications one can gain but I wanted to check if this was still the legal position?

Actually it is true that you don't need a qualification to operate as an Estate Agent.
Having checked the OFT website it clarified this point.

Although there ARE qualifications in the field which can be gained, they aren't a requirement.

hiya, i know that qualifications arent needed, but i'm studying the hnd in estate agency at sheffield hallam and the course is great! When I finish i am going to be a surveyor as well as an estate agent and will therefore have many more doors opened for me!!!

No - years back I wanted to be an EA - and I didn't need any qualifications.

Fact: I also wanted to teach (English) or become an electrician - these were both ideas before I decided IT was going to be my area.
