View Full Version : Saving mobile phone photos
Tartempion 21-12-2005, 08:10 I've got a Nokia mobile phone which I know very little about other than that it takes photos. I'd really like to save the photos I've already taken and take some more. Is there any way I can do this? I've got a laptop but don't know if I've got anything connecty and wouldn't know what to do with it if I had...
Can anyone help?
fritzthecat 21-12-2005, 08:15 what model is it, as it might have a memory card you can take out and transfer your pics, if not then you will need whats known as a bluetooth dongle and you can bluetooth them straight to your laptop

Tartempion 21-12-2005, 09:04 Thanks - it's a 6101. Don't think it's got a memory card...
ToryCynic 21-12-2005, 09:16 This? (http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,6771,70351,00.html)
Ok - no bluetooth; however it does have InfaRed...

Unless the laptop already has infra-red.

You can buy a 6101 data cable from here (http://www.justphones.co.uk) for about £6, I have exactly the same phone as you (got it free on Vodafone contract back in October) beware though, don't do what I did and buy the DKU-5 cable cos it's cheap, cos it's not compatible to your phone, make sure you get the DKU-2.
Tartempion 21-12-2005, 16:18 Thanks for all your help!
I've bought an infrared adaptor. I don't know if my laptop already has infrared though. Anyone know how I can find out?
infra red..yes..look on the back or side and there will be a black little box about 3cm by 2cm, and shiny plastic- thats ur infra red, ive got a dell laptop and its on the left hand side near the headphone port, hope that helps
Tartempion 23-12-2005, 11:34 Hmmm...
I've just got my shiny new infra red USB thingy and installed it successfully.
I went into my phone gallery and selected "send by infra red". Then I held the infra red bit of the phone close to the USB port and the phone said "sending..." but the computer remained suspiciously silent. I held it there till my arms got tired - maybe 5 mins.
Anyone got any ideas why it might not be working?
What am I doing wrong?!
your firewall may be blocking it I know that my firewall blocks my bluetooth and IR so i just turn it off for a bit to transfer my files.
May be that :)
MonkeyLover 19-10-2009, 09:39 I have a similar problem with my Motorola W375. It has some precious photos on of my Mum (who has since passed away), and has also some photos of a friends new-born baby.
I would like to get the photos printed off, or at least transfer them onto my laptop, but I don't know how to do it. I do have a cable that came with the phone, but no disc of any description.
The phone is not much good now, because the back keeps falling off, and it cuts off halfway through conversations, so I have had to buy another one.
Is there somewhere I can take the phone, maybe a mobile phone shop, or camera shop, where they would print the photos off for me? I have tried one of those little self-service machines in Boots, but no joy.
Thank you.
alchresearch 19-10-2009, 10:20 You can usually download the phone software from the manufacturer's website.
Although you'd probably find it quicker and easier to take your phone and a USB memory stick to one of those unlocking guys in the market who should be able to do it for a few quid.
