RichD 20-12-2005, 15:16 Originally posted by kirky how come they charge fair and a half at christmas:confused:    Because people will pay it. kirky 20-12-2005, 15:17 Originally posted by spyro2000 So they get an extra half profit???? but it aint a holiday to them..its just another working day,new year fair enough but not christmas.......its like me charging double when its the chinese new year spyro2000 20-12-2005, 15:19 Originally posted by kirky but it aint a holiday to them..its just another working day,new year fair enough but not christmas.......its like me charging double when its the chinese new year Its down to the Taxi company, not the individual taxi driver. So it doesnt matter whether the taxi driver is christian or not. Plus as RichD says, they will pay it. I know I would :D Preacher Man 20-12-2005, 15:21 Originally posted by spyro2000 So they get an extra half profit???? shouldnt that be prophet :hihi: :hihi: Fingers 20-12-2005, 16:07 If a taxi firm offered different rates of pay to different taxi drivers purely because some of them observed one religion and some observed another that firm would leave itself open to accusations of discrimination. If two people are doing the same job for the same firm they should get the same rates of pay and the same terms and conditions. Given that taxi firms are competing against each other to persuade drivers to work for them the ones that offer the best rates of pay and terms and conditions (such as extra pay for working on Christmas Day) will be more likely to attract drivers than those which offer the worst. Whilst non-Christian taxi drivers may not celebrate Christmas in the way that many people do that doesn't alter the fact that in the UK Christmas Day is a public holiday and therefore many places are closed. Andy 20-12-2005, 16:24 Originally posted by kirky how come they charge fair and a half at christmas:confused:    Because, regardless of their religion, they're working in the United Kingdom where Christmas is a public holiday. I'm not a Christian but the only time I've worked Christmas Day I demanded double pay. TeaFan 20-12-2005, 16:57 It's a lot cheaper than paying fare and a half for the whole of Ramadan, so stop yer moanin;) kirky 20-12-2005, 17:32 Originally posted by TeaFan It's a lot cheaper than paying fare and a half for the whole of Ramadan, so stop yer moanin;) getting a taxi during ramadam is impossible:( biggan 20-12-2005, 17:33 Originally posted by kirky getting a taxi during ramadam is impossible:( true, very true! And he can launch a Kirky's Kebabs for the non-Ramadan months of the year :D TeaFan 20-12-2005, 20:40 Or he could do kebabs in the cabs, and be Kirky's Kebab Kabs. Mind you, that's KKK, so maybe not. I can think of some posters who wouldn't have a problem with a cab firm called KKK (though they might not want kebabs as they're not British). kirky 21-12-2005, 08:37 Originally posted by Fingers I can think of some posters who wouldn't have a problem with a cab firm called KKK (though they might not want kebabs as they're not British). kebabs arnt british:o :o :o are you kidding? |
