I wouldn't mind seeing the original French version if you can, without Morgan Freeman's awful narration and the musical score which annoyed me.

Watch with the sound down, because the visuals are beautiful.

Agreed...in fact that was the exact quibbles I raised in my review of the film. Freeman's voice almost put me asleep despite the fact that I found the documentary interesting. Needed someone like Attenborough to voice it...more enthusiasmm

There was a thing on TV saying how the hardcore Christians have seized on this film as showing that the male/female/kid family is what god intended.

Well if that's the case, they missed the fact that they are only faithful to their partner for ONE YEAR!!!! Each new mating season they find a NEW MATE!! If that's what Christians are up for, then I'm gonna go find me religion! :)

I managed to get hold of both versions (The dubbed and the subbed) but was trying to decide which version to watch.

I think I'll go with the subbed version :) :)

I always remember my sister and I in fits of laughter while we were trying to work out why these penguins walk (waddle) 50 miles inland to lay one egg, one penguin goes back the 50 miles to the sea to feed, then travels back the 50 miles to take over looking after the egg, and then baby penguin, while the other parent travels the 50 miles back to the sea etc. etc. etc.

btw, it may not be 50 miles, but it was a hell of a long way for a penguin to waddle:hihi:

That was a different documentary, not March of the Penguins. March was filmed very recently by Luc Jaquet.

There's not many animals Attenborough hasn't waffled about on BBC through the years, so yeah, he has covered the topic of the Emperor Penguin.

...and where do you think Luc Jaquet got the idea from.....his is just an updated (and a little bit cheesy) version of the BBC/Attenborough documentary.

Just in case anybody hasn't seen the trailer, which is brilliant btw, it can be viewed here! (http://wip.warnerbros.com/marchofthepenguins/)
