Hi all, I am getting married this year and all is booked except for evening DJ. We want someone who'll play good music of our choice but no Agadoo's and also someone who doesn't talk over everything (don't want much!). Utter nightmare even starting to look. Any recommendations? Thanks
Just do what we're doing. It's the typical wedding DJ we've got at the hotel, but he's getting a list of what exactly he can and cannot play, as well as the threat of microphone removal! It's one of the conditions of us hiring him that he can't talk at all - just play the bloody records!
Yo
I am an accessible/pop DJ who doesn't talk on the mic or own Agadoo.
What sort of music are you looking for?
Is it a general mix of stuff people know but nothing too cheesy?
I have DJed weddings before to this brief.
Doing a list as a guide is a good idea, its the only way to ensure you definitely get what you want.

Thanks. A list is definitely a good idea. Neil M, where do you usually play?
Hello there, I do gigs all over the country i sing 60's 70's and chart materiel. Also i Dj and have an amazing amount of songs at the push of a button. I have an album of my songs of me singing if you are intrested. A show and a DJ i have done loads and loads of weddings as a show and DJ and the night as always been really brilliant. I'm glad this worked for you! When we got married we did exactly that - my list wasn't even prescriptive, just a list of suggested bands and songs (and it was a huge list).
Apart from our first three songs, the accursed DJ just went ahead and played whatevver the hell he wanted anyway. (Including "YMCA" and "Music Man" which actually make me come out in a rash.) MY wife defended this on the grounds that he "got people up and dancing." Oh, well, it didn't spoil the day!

Well, our wedding isn't until May 7th so there's still plenty of time for it to all go wrong! If he starts babbling over the microphone, it will be forcibly removed from him - a bit of crap music I suppose I could put up with...

I can vouch for Neil! He is a sound bloke, got a vast collection of music and club Djs weekly and has done loads of weddings, including a few of my mates.
I must admit I was a little surprised by the 'Yo' too!! Don't let it put you off!
He looks nothing like Smashie or Nicey, wont talk unless asked too, will stick to your genre guidelines and is fully house trained - which is a bonus!
It was me who mailed him this thread in the first place because I thought he would suit the bill, so if you do PM him and get no response, feel free to PM me and I will put you in touch with each other.
Peace out
;)
