DJ WRONGTOM
[Big Dada / Trojan]
http://www.wrongtom.com/
Wrongtom is a record producer and DJ from South London, now residing in the not-so-trendy reaches of the east end, he spends his days playing with tape echo and watching B-movies in his makeshift studio hidden away in a converted nunnery. Sometimes on 4 decks, often keeping it simple with just 2, always guaranteed to rock the dance. Wrongtom was once described as a bastion of the unexpected though you're as likely to catch him playing a straight hip-hop or dancehall set as you are to stumble into a routine that could include anything from punk-funk disco dubs, to bhangra and sea shanties! While it's his studio and DJ work with indie-rockers Hard-Fi that he is most famed for, it's the productions on the last two Roots Manuva's albums ('Slime & Version' and 'Duppy Writer') that really do it for us. Wrongtom fuses the all best Mr Manuva tracks with authentic 80s digi-dub and dancehall styles with killer results. He's also responisible for that ridiculous Riddim Killer/Pass Out remix 7" on the NiceUp! label, a record so heavy Don Letts pronounced "it will never leave his record box".
For a taster of his DJ selections, you can check this Wrongtom All Time Top 100 (100 tunes in 10mins!) http://soundcloud.com/wrongtom/dj-wrongtom-all-time-top-100 or download here http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/598119/djwrongtom-100.mp3
