Did anyone else suffer this power cut last night, which was apparently quite widespread (parts of Broomhill, Hunters Bar, Ecclesall, Greystones, High Storrs)

I came home about 10.15 to total darkness and stumbled about to find (four ;) ) candles. It lasted till about midnight.

Was actually quite peaceful - except for all the burglar alarms going off - no tv, radio, computer etc and going to bed carrying a candle.

Only problem is - I forgot my alarm clock was electric :o

Yes we had the power cut at High Storrs. It went off about 10.15. The power didn't come back on until 4.30 am.

We called NPower (our electricity provider) which had a recorded message saying to contact your electricity provider in case of a power cut??? :loopy:

We didn't have any power cuts last night btw.

Oh didn't it come back on till 4.30? Was fast asleep by then.:D

We called YE (had to find an old plug in phone) and got the recorded message that they knew about the problem and it would be back on at about 12.30.

NPower were on the ball there then weren't they. :hihi:

2 kids dragging me out of bed this morning yelling 'we're late' kinda made up for it. ;)

EDIT: Are you playing nice Jon? - It's ok I didn't hear you the first time. :hihi:

i lost all power last night in Fulwood..would've been okay but i was watching a rather spooky episode of Bad Girls, involving ghosts and excorcism, and had just dozed off when all the alarms went off and my house fell completely black. when i'd changed my underpants, it was actually quite nice sitting in the candlelight until i realised that I had to go into my scary cellar and sort the alarm out....i've recovered now, but 1992's ghostwatch was never far from my mind....Pipes? are you there pipes?

Suffered from that one in the past myself.... so I've got a battery-powered one now.

No you're not - my daft humour just didn't come across very well.

starmag - You're post really made me laugh, but how frustrating for it to go off in the middle of something you're watching.
Slowprogress we could be neighbours ;)

:o :D I've now borrowed my daughters wind up clock with bells on, just in case. That thing certainly wakes you up!
