Time to get the glad rags on stage!
As many of you will know, we have raised thousands for charity and work hard to put on two plays each year.
But a life on the stage means we have a extensive range of props, costumes and furniture which we have to store, and we are now forced to rent space. We face a continuing struggle to maintain the cost of this storage space, as this is a huge drain on our funds.
...
We are therefore hosting different events in order to raise money. If we don’t keep funds up, your favourite company will not be able to continue for more than two or three more years. No more plays, no more laughs and no more Midland! Sad but true.
So come and help us stop that happening!
We are therefore hosting “Off The Rails” - a public event to entertain, inform and amuse you - and also help a little towards our storage bills. A entertaining talk will be given by our long term costume designer Judy Colby about the fun, the quirks, the challenges - and perils - of creating costumes for amateur productions. This will be followed by refreshments and a catwalk show in which Midland actors/crew will be donning costumes to model.
You may even see the resurrection of some of your favourite past characters!
This event is also a way of showing off costumes the company has, which are available for hire. Any of you other theatre company people out there - take note!
“Off the Rails” is being held on Wednesday 8th June 2011, 7.30pm at Totley Rise Methodist Church, Grove Road, S17 4DJ.
For tickets e-mail offtherails@midlandplayers.co.uk or get them on the door.
So whether you are interested in costume, fashion, plays, history, recycling, America‘s Next Top Model... You name it. This is the night for you!
