View Full Version : Best christmas present ever?! hoegarden 19-12-2005, 08:08 what's the best you ever got? Go on... give us some inspiration...;) daverity 19-12-2005, 08:38 Christmas Eve 1993, 7lbs 3oz my second son! He's 12 on Saturday (going on 32) cheeky little buggar now but a great pressie all the same  Tyranna 04-01-2009, 04:32 I saw a 'worst Christmas Present' thread near the top of this Forum section, so I had a look for a 'Best present' thread, to put a gloss on things for the year ahead which will appear to be hard for many, and sure enough here it is. My best actual present this year has got to be the wind-up rechargeable bike lamp I got from my brother: No more scrambling for batteries, no more failing light in the middle of a ride, no more 'cars that don't see you'... But the present which beats even this one is that while I've been away with relatives in Cork in in Ireland, I went to a local gay bar for their NYE Party, and waited with baited breath until the end of the night when I got the coveted chance to sing a final live song for the night before the DJ packed up; the song I sang was 'Without You' (Mariah Carey version), and in spite of everyone by then being tired and full of drink and ready to drift off into the night, the whole venue came alive and I got the most wonderful applause for my performance, many of the audience not having seen me since a year ago when I last went to the venue on NYE 2007/8.... Till Crimbo next Year, hope you all had a Happy One! ChrisTodd 04-01-2009, 09:49 A snooker table when I was about 8. Shame that here it's illegal to leave the engine running in an unattended vehicle. :( Rich 04-01-2009, 14:47 Original Xbox in 2001, and 360 in 2005... Not to mention my first Internet enabled PC in 1997, just a shame I had loads of problems with it, and the shop were NO help, hence my distrust of anyone who sells PCs and isn't a proper shop such as PC World. sTaGeWaLkEr 04-01-2009, 14:56 Without exception, the best Christmas present I had was this year. A friend of mine had been on a life support machine for several weeks - and wasn't expected to live. On Christmas Day I called up to Hospital to see her and found her awake and watching TV!! We were able to communicate for the first time in a long time, and although she couldn't actually speak, she used her eyelashes to 'blink' her responses. She displayed openly her pleasure at my being there and cried with happiness when we talked of the positive things that were going to happen upon her discharge. Unfortunately the improvement was short lived, and sadly she died a few days later on New Years Eve - but that Christmas Day present was one I will never forget. Pseudonym 04-01-2009, 15:00 That's both thought-provoking and very humbling, sTaGeWaLkEr. poppins 04-01-2009, 15:05 Nice! Dave650 04-01-2009, 15:23 Apologies everyone, started a diffo thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?p=4484979#post4484979) BoroughGal 04-01-2009, 15:32 Back on topic please. Favourite Christmas present. Thanks. flamingjimmy 04-01-2009, 16:10 About 9 years ago I begged my parents to get me this cool looking toy electric guitar with buttons that you pressed and some baddass guitar lick came out of these tiny speakers in the bottom. When i saw under the tree i was so exited, there was something was just the right shape and labelled to me! But when i opened it it was a real electric guitar! (a basic encore strat but we all gotta start somewhere). I was so happy it was the best present ever. Thanks for reminding me:) Mister M 04-01-2009, 16:40 Would have to be seeing my mum this christmas. She was very poorly in intensive care during summer and was 50/50 as to whether she'd pull through - being able to say happy xmas to her was lovely! I also remember getting Scalectrix when I was 10/11, that was fab gift too! |
