Might sound silly this but although it wasn't used much I miss the the floppy drive that I had on my old computer. My new computer a "Dell 3000" does not have one fitted and as they are only £22 I was thinking of buying an external USB one from Maplins. The problem is as I understand it you need to have fitted in your computer a FLOPPY DISK DRIVE CONTROLLER and most computers have them fitted as standard even when no floppy drive is fitted. I find this strange as floppy disc drives seem to be on the way out. So can anyone confirm if a floppy drive controller is likely to be fitted.

Thanks

Yep, i stuck a floppy drive into our office Dimension 3000 just 48 hours ago  They dont have the mounting rack inside tho, so you cant screw the floppy drive into place (over the "floppy hole") without some DIY or a doner case or something. Other than that all you need is a floppy drive and the cable
Edit: Just to make clear...You dont need any "controlers" for an external usb drive, you might need some drivers but they most surtainly will come with the unit.
