My hubby plays chess and so do his two children. Not regularly but enough for us to have a collection of various sets.
My son also took a big interest in chess. He knew how to set up a board and learnt some of the moves of the pieces but being only four didn't quite get the game.

No one believed us when we told them who we were buying the sets for!

I play chess.
I'm no professional but I like a game every now and then.

I'll happily play over the net if you like.
I sometimes play my Yankee mates via Yahoo Messenger which is cool. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.

I have lost to Americas under 10 champion once. 6 moves and he beat me (he was going easy on me apparently).

Used to play a bit when I was younger - got to school final when I was 7 or 8 against an 11 year old, he beat me, just :)

Play a little every now and then but not that interested anymore, takes too long :)

I love playing chess but I'm really really bad at it. I don't think I look far enough ahead before I move. I formulate a really good plan, only for it to backfire drastically.

I enjoy Chess. I prefer playing on a board than online though.

I like chess. I'm not too bad at it either, though not the greatest by any means.

I could slaughter you all at Chess! I made it all the way to the 1991 Gleadless Valley School Chess finals back in 1991.

And no, I am not lying to boost my ego :D

I unfortunately got beat by this annoying twerp in my year called Richard Fridlington.... Man I hated that guy so much, ever since he tried to start a fight with me on the very first day of school.... Pfft, just cos I was from outside the area, bloody silly dickweed.

I enjoy a good game of pub chess (no clocks please) but I haven't played anyone for a while

Tried clubs, but the emphasis seemed to be on competitive chess, rather than socialising. Learnt loads, but I was eventually put off by the poor grace of some of the members when I beat them (to be fair they lost the game through carelessness and complacency, but a win is a win.)

SF chess event anyone?

Yeah, I'd be up for that :D

Maybe get CRB to get a Chess set out for the next meet in a couple of weeks?! If she's not got one I'm sure she could get one for dirt cheap.

Hahahahahaha, sorry but how did you manage to get beat by Frid? The guy used to walk round his paper round thinking he was the Terminator - that guy had issues :D
