View Full Version : Are men cracking up over Christmas ?
pattricia 18-12-2005, 20:02 Not failed to notice on my recent shopping trips, that men seem to be getting"twitchy, nervous & impatient" in the run up to Christmas.Women seem to take it all in their stride, after all theve only got the cards to buy & post, the presents to get,the Christmas dinner to cook & the washing up afterwards ! Seen loads of couples having arguments in the Supermarket. My husband looked quite tetchy & impatient when I tried on a pair of "flashing antlers". Whats up guys ?:heyhey:

I'll have you know (*twitch* BAH!!) that it's a recognised & nastily debilitating medical (*gurn* HUMBUG!!) condition, & I'll thank you to not mock (*twitch* MINCE PIE!!) my seasonal Father-Jack-esque Tourette's Syndrome...
There's no understanding in the *twitch* world any (@#~TARD!!) more, really)
PS that last word shouted was custard
I'm not stressed, neither is the other half, perhaps having a wife is part of it, had you thought of that ?

It is widely reckoned that browsing and shopping for items is more enjoyable for women than either giving, receiving or, heaven forbid, using the items they buy.
Something to do with conspicuous consumerism, I think...
In defence of such females, any bloke daft enough to accompany his missus on shopping Christmas trips deserves all the punishment he gets.
They don't call it the silly season for nowt :help:

Im always cracked up well b4 christmas mate!:D
valentine 19-12-2005, 13:50 I am running around like a headless chicken, buying gifts for my side and his side, writing cards, planning the food shopping and working part time.
Hubby sits there with a smug grin on his face saying "I've done my shopping, there is nothing to get stressed about"
Also everytime we receive a card he will say "have we sent them one" in a tone of voice that implies it would never have crossed my mind if he hadn't mentioned it.
But I can't complain because I have 57 (yes count em, 57) pressies under our tree from him.

Have you thought it might be a 57-piece jigsaw ?
I think the lasses are to blame on this!
If we dont get you something you want for xmas or you dont like it- woe betide the consequences.
How about this for a good idea- tell your blokes what you want for xmas, thus killing the dissapointment of getting something you dont want!
Yes it wont be a surprise- but hey, least you will like what we have bought you.
Us blokes are not psychic- we need some help sometimes you know.
I always have to go shopping alone if I don't want to get wound up. Don't know why but shopping with someone else always gets my back up.
Beakerzoid 20-12-2005, 04:57 Everyone gets stressed out over christmas, male or female....and we deal with the brunt of it at work. This is the time of year when our customers are the most demanding, and will be confrontational over the slightest thing. We see it every year, the stress levels getting higher and higher through December, as people come to the Cinema to wind down - but tend to still be panicked about Christmas.
I've always took Christmas in my stride. I don't panic about it, or worry about presents at all. I order goods online in November, and do the last bit of shopping right about...ooh today I think. I avoid Meadowhell like a rash at the quietest times of the year, so no way will I be there to shop now.
spyro2000 20-12-2005, 05:10 Only 4 days left before my christmas shopping begins

It is probably a 60 piece jigsaw and he lost 3 pieces while wrapping them up
Godzilla 20-12-2005, 12:07 I've never been quite so stressed as I am this year. No decorations up yet and the most important pressie (his) not bought. There are some kids I buy for - I've got the gifts but no time to deliver them. Wish there was a Santa and he would come and get them. Never mind - a good stiff gin should do the trick!
SpiderPete 20-12-2005, 12:19 I never get stressed at Christmas, dont know what the fuss is, my shopping doesnt start untl this Saturday... and it will all be done in an hour.... get home .. wrap them up.... deliver on Sunday ... no fuss at all

Funny that, Just bumped into an attractive lady who was wearing antlers at the local Tesco, she was carrying 2 boxes of Stella Artois. "Now that’s my kind of woman!" I said as she passed and got a lovely smile for my trouble.
Meanwhile the wife is making another mental entry in the grievance database….
