Why does life have to be so depressing? i bet if you count your friends you wont be depressed, maybe they dont want to go with you to see the film because its not theirkind of thing, get a rental, invite them round, see if they watch it life isnt boring just because you cant get your own way

dont be sad, find another film your mates are interested in and have a good night together

Wouldnt you go to the cinema on your own?

I go to the cinema on my own, but I make a habit of trying to go mid week when all the kids are at school and people are at work cos that way I dont look like a billy-no-mates.

Sad I know, but if I dont go I'd have to wait till the DVD comes out and that takes far too long.

I had to re-read this several times (please explain)

Saw 2 is AWESOME (much better than 1) I agree w/ the person who said 'go alone'. Never done that myself, but would if I wanted to see a film & no one else was free! Otherwise, I'm sure there are tonnes of people from here who'd go with you! You can do an online interview/application thing to make sure they were suitable

Are you really that bothered by what other people think of you? Don't you think that's a bit shallow?

I'm a big cinema fan and I usually go on my own. I sometimes go with my best mate when I'm back visiting my parents, but I always go on my own in Sheffield. What's more, I always sit in the front row dead centre. That's my spot as it's easy to forget that there are other people in the cinema. I like the feeling that I'm watching a film on my own personal video wall with no-one else there.

Ultimately it's the film that is king though. Going to the cinema should be about wallowing in the glorious medium of film, not trying to fit in with society's conformist ideals. Who cares what other people think when there are films to see? In fact, who cares what other people think anyway? :P

Totally agree with Daley, go and watch the film on your own. I have done it many times. Watching a film is that, you are not socialising. Granted i dont go on my won a Fri/Sat/Sun night but generally during the week

Oh blimey Daley I wasnt being shallow I was trying to be lighthearted and laugh at myself.

I honestly dont give a fig that I go to the cinema on my own, infact I quite enjoy the me time.

I go to the cinema on my own because my sons at school and I have 2 days a week off work, luckily for me being a Billy-no-mates doesnt phase me that much as I quite enjoy my own company.

My friends all like girlie films and I like thrillers and tension. Plus I am far more film mad than them so like to go more often than once a month.
So I save girls nights for the girlie films and then go to see the other stuff on my own usually. If it's a film i really want to see, the fact I've got noone to see it with is overridden. It's not that bad going alone, once you are in there no one cares, you get engrossed in the film and you don't have to share your nachos with anyone!
