View Full Version : General Grumpiness on Forum?

I don't know whether it's just me or not, but I've found the Forum to be very unfriendly and generally grumpy and bad-tempered for the last few days.

The arguments, insulting comments and overall not-niceness seem to have mushroomed. I don't think I can remember a time when there's been such an air of unpleasantness.

Are we all too stressed with Christmas preparations?

Or is it just me who's too stressed and imagining it all?

Why can't we all be Friends?? :D

Over to you, fellow Forummers......

I agree Sparkle that it does seem that anyone stating an opinion gets potshots taken at them by all and sundry, but I'm not sure that it's any worsse right now than it has been at other points over the last few months. Either way round it would be lovely if those that state opine honestly and politely could avoid personal digs and attacks.

Perhaps its because people are watching 'grumpy old men/women' on TV and its now regarded as hip and chic to behave in this way.

I will always be your friend on here Sparkle, happy Xmas.;)

good afternoon starsparkle. And how are you on this nice, yet slightly cold winters afternoon.

I also have noticed the general bad temper and insulting posts recently. Was wondering if it was the time of year, with everyone feeling gloomy. C'mon peeps. time to turn that frown upside down.

Hope everyone has a very happy Christmas. (maybe a little early)

I can look back at certain posts where I have been grumpy-ish, and think..

"Whoops!! I had PMT there, good-style!!"

I think I suffer fools even less gladly than I normally do, when I have PMS. *gulp!*)

So, apologies, in advance, I think for the bitten-off heads, folks..

Sowwyy!

I often post grumpy comments on here, it's a sort of release.

If I didn't, I'd probably crack up and start shouting at dustbins and stuff.

It is better to be nice though, especially seeing as it's Christmas. Shall we have a group hug?

As Friedrich Nietzsche said, beware of shouting at dustbins, lest the dustbins shout back at you. Clatter clatter.

Oohh yes in agreement with you Starsparkle.

Been some real grumps in recent days on the Forum.

I love a good debate but just been more snidey posts than usual.

Though have to admit I nearly posted a grump cos' someone was bugging me with mindless posts today but thought...nahhhh. Delete and go and do something else instead.

In my case, it's not grumpiness, but the fact that one particular member has to be the most irritating poster around, and needs to be told so.

To be honest this Forum is the 2nd most friendliest which I post on. I find Posters reasonasble most of the time. One of the forums I go on you get shot down for anything, I only go on for a laugh now, just to see how angry people can get

Another Forum I go on, you get absolutely destroyed if your post shows you haven't spent 6 months researching the topic. And don't even post before you've searched the whole forum, to make sure no one else as made the post. Dumb questions, don't even go there. Its got to the point were I only post short posts, just to add my bit. I go on often because there is lots of good info there.

I wont name these Forums as I don't want to put them down. If thats the way they want to run them, then so be it.

This was almost a Christmas thread.
Is there still a general grumpiness?

I didnt even exist in 2005 so for once I cant be blamed for any grumpiness.

Ive been to quite a few fora and this one is the most friendly and the most civillized, I could show you a few that are real pits- one in particular thats the armpit of the world and is on its last legs precisely because of its unfriendlyness and propensity to slip the occasional knife into the occasional spine.

Its nice to see them die though, and its nice to assist them to die too so they arent completely without their attractions.

I'm friendly to most people, except the numpty trolls who got my near 5 year old autism and asperger's thread locked because they were baiting me about me allegedly being workshy, despite the fact I've got a meeting with Bridge Employment tomorrow, and spent most of this morning going round Agencies in Town asking for part time admin work! :loopy:

I feel a Helpdesk ticket being created about that.

I have just felt too laid back recently; a little over-relaxed. So I thought I'd come on here and let my opinions free in an antisocial manner, perhaps with the intention to initiate a flame war of some sort.

Not worked yet. Insulting people is fun though. You genitalia.

well Sparkle I just carry on regardless - at times it does seem like a Carry On film and you have to laugh, good thing there are people round to make us laugh like Mel, 'pk, Basil and Jabbers - not forgetting the 'soothing voice of reason'

I heard that it was possible to close one's own thread recently, I have to say I nearly did that today but desisted as I didn't want to spoil things for some.

It seems just the same as it has always been, but with less BNP bashing, a bit more Muslim bashing and the same old people moaning year after year about how the forum "isn't like it was in the good old days"

It's when it's a slow news day that people start getting uppity and fractious. Give us a major event like the flood and no-one is grumpy, everyone just pitches in.

Especially when it's delivered secretly by a man in black swinging in through the window on a rope ... :D

Actually, I ripped open the bag as soon as you turned your back and devoured the lot, resulting in sugar rush, then sugar coma, all my teeth fell out and I collapsed in a stupor behind the counter for the rest of the day! :hihi:

But it really was delish! Thank you!
