Does anyone know of any live music events a young budding flute player could get involved in for some playing experience

How about busking outside Marks and Spencer (Fargate)?
Always plenty of live musical tallents to be heard there.

May even earn a bob or two ;)

You can't just go and busk though, you need a license off the council to do it or the Cops will tell you to shift.

Is there no school orchestras that require flutes?

I can play the flute, not many people know that.

You could always go stand on one leg with a mad hair do in the middle of city Hall....oh no that was Jethro Tull!!! ;)

Come to the Classic Rock Bar on a Monday night from about half past eight, there are many different musicians there who get up in turn and play tunes, we often have many different instruments jamming together. You'll meet a lot of musicians there who welcome new styles of playing.

Come and join in a session at The Dog & Partridge, Trippet Lane....Tues, Fridays & Saturdays......ALL WELCOME!!.....I could do with a bit of flute at the end of my version of 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away' by the Beatles!!:thumbsup:

Nah, I do the Tuesday, Friday and Saturday night sessions with 'Big Mick'!!:headbang:

there are plenty of youth bands around. Look in the Thompson Local or see if the library can help you with something near to where you live. My neices and nephew were in some majorette band based I think in Chapeltown.
