I bought a smoothie maker yonks ago in order to get my full 5 portions of fruit and veg a day as I just wouldn't think to eat all that...

I haven't really used it because it's harder than I expected to make something really yummy and still drinkable (it's generally too gunky!)

Has anyone got any ideas?
I like most fruits but not kiwi, tomatoes, prunes or dates, and not pippy things that I can't cut pips out of such as raspberries!

I'd particularly like to use pineapple, apples, pears and strawberries (not necessarily all at the same time)

Thanks - if there's a book of them I'd be interested in knowing about it!

John Lewis sell a few books devoted solely to smoothies.
I use veggies aswell, particularly carrots as they are sweet.
Some root ginger can put a zing in any smoothie.

To stop the smoothies becoming too 'gunky' as you put it, add some apple or orange juice to the mix before you whizz it all up.

We use bananas in all our smoothies along with a mixture of, pineapple, peaches, strawberries, kiwi, mango, raspberries etc.

Strawberry and kiwi is lovely!

I just used to mix a handful of strawberries with a banana and some orange juice (and ice cubes) for a quick one.

Mango and pineapple with a fruit juice (orange is nice).

Banana, strawberries and some milk and natural yoghurt! Gets some calcium into you too.

Carrot and orange juice is also lovely.

I have got two recipes, they are really nice too....

Try Carrots, Oranges, Apples and Ginger

Also, try Apples and Ginger

Both are really tasty, they do them at a place in town called Double Dutch, the waffle place in orchard square, I am now wanting a smoothy maker myself, lol.

Recipe for a Smoothie:

Gelled slick backed hair, shaped eyebrows, spray on tan, trousers with tucked in shirt and jumper slung over shoulders.

Gold Chain ring and earring. Bleached teeth. Slip on shoes. Hairs just peeking over open shirt. Manicured nails. Terrible chat up lines from Austin Powers cos he thinks ther'e funny!

Aftershave poured everywhere and a really small winky!!! Let's face it with all that falseness they have to be lacking in the trouser department!!!! :gag:

Ooops sorry - wrong kind of smoothy! :hihi:

Some yummy ideas here
Does anyone know if you could do a big load of fruit smoothy and freeze it in daily sizes? I thought of getting a load of fresh fruit and making it up for the week but dont know if it would keep all its goodness if it was frozen

Thanks guys - that's fab!

I will try them!

Kry10 - the smoothie makers are great but a real pain as they take a lot of washing with awkward bits so not as accessible as you may think!

Thanks very much for your ideas, i do add juice with it normally and I have a few recipes that came with it but I'm so picky - most are alcoholic and I can't drink alcohol!!!
