View Full Version : Whos the best? Harrisons, Arctic Monkeys or Milburn. chaz_n_dave 15-12-2005, 22:44 what d'youz think? gimme ya honest opinionz...ok? sexylass1983 15-12-2005, 23:04 not harrisons!!!!! Halibut 15-12-2005, 23:42 Monkeys. Not a shadow of a doubt. The others are fine but the monkeys have that bit of something else.....it's indefinable..magic. "He's pinched your bird and 'e'll prob'bly kick your 'ed in" SWFC00 15-12-2005, 23:48 what d'youz think? gimme ya honest opinionz...ok? Ok, but please use proper word's!! Anyway; Not heard anything Milburn have done, so can't comment on them. Arctic Monkeys are ok, nothing special. I think "Fake Tales Of San Francisco" is a pretty good song. A hell of a lot better than "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor". If i'm being honest their arrangements baffle me. I also think they are pretty poor song writers with very little to say. Out of all the local band's I can see why they have become the darling's of the media (allthough I don't agree with it). NME have always been :loopy: so I'm not surprised they are doing their usual a*** kissing! Harrisons are a good band, I've only heard "Wishing Well" and "Out Tonight" but I like what I've heard so far! Their lead singer was in the year below me at school & always seemed like a sound lad. Out of your choices I'd have to go for Harrisons. Allthough in terms of quality of material and excellent song structure I'd have to say Daybreak are the better band / musicians at the moment. They're unlike the "Franz Ferdinand clones" (as I call them), In that they wont be grabbing any headlines like the Monkeys, simply because they're not making the records that turn kids on as much as them. If Daybreak had been around say four or five years ago, I think they would have been getting lot's of attention. But this "new" music is what get's kids going at the moment. But fair play to the Monkeys, hopefully they can pave the way for other Sheffield bands to break through into the national spotlight. RegularJohn 16-12-2005, 11:20 alas, sadly none of em! "Now then Mardy Bum... Doo doo dee doo" (I can't remember the words...:loopy: ) hmr44 16-12-2005, 21:40 Well my ex boyfriend was friend with the drummer in Milburn and he was a really nice guy, and I think there a really good band, but arctic monkeys are good too (and used to live on my estate apparently) rubbing shoulders with the stars eh? :hihi: Chris_Sleeps 17-12-2005, 16:09 The Mardy Bums win. www.myspace.com/themardybums :) MTheo 17-12-2005, 16:42 agreed fake tales of san fransisco is a great song... i dont mind them..but i just hope it doesnt spill out lots of copycats and then EVERYONE will get sick of it all MTheo 17-12-2005, 16:43 Originally posted by Chris_Sleeps The Mardy Bums win. www.myspace.com/themardybums :) i've already commented about this band on another site... i think they should change name coz its sounding like a tribute band... and actually the song (although not to bad) sounds like they are listening to arctic monkeys far too much! Chris_Sleeps 17-12-2005, 17:06 I think its meant to be ironic. robbie 17-12-2005, 18:58 well. Monkeys have I'd say almost a full album worth of very good songs. Miburn are an excellent band (and better live than the monkeys) but only have a few good songs. I love Wishing Well by the Harrisons but I hate a lot of the other stuff. personally I'd say in Sheff at the moment that Daybreak, Little man Tate, Bromheads Jacket and Stoney are up there with them Chris_Sleeps 19-12-2005, 12:26 Little Man Tate keep getting bigger and bigger aswell. Check them out. http://www.myspace.com/littlemantatemusic http://www.littlemantate.co.uk/ |
