Anyone have information on Tiscali Broadband at £15.99 per Month? It seems too good to be true. Is it all they (Tiscali) claim it to be?

Thats because it probably is too good to be true. I have heard terrible stories from people who have previously been with them about appalling Customer Service and extremely poor internet performance speeds.

Tiscali have quite a bad rep, I would not touch them with a barg pole.

If you dont use the net much Metronet might suit you better, or Plusnet in Sheffield, few other good ones are, Zen, Nildram, Eclispe, Bulldog.

What you want from the package?
Number of email accounts?
Own hardware or ISP supplied?
Web space?
Support telephone cost and opening hours?
Price point you want to pay?
Speed to broadband access?

It is so cheap because it isn't a full speed broadband service. Typical broadband offers speeds of 512k (about 10 times faster than dialup). Even more expensive ones offer 1mb and 2mb services, which are even faster. Tiscalis £15.99 offering is only 3 times faster than dialup. If you're already on a dialup anytime service and paying about £15 a month for it anyway, yet don't want to be paying up to £30 a month for 10 speed broadband, this is a good offer for you. Just don't be fooled into thinking it will be like typical 10 times faster than dialup broadband services, because it isn't.

I'd go with Plus.

Maybe not the very cheapest but based in Sheffield and great customer service.

Yep I signed up with Plusnet a couple of weeks ago and I'm very happy with them.

http://www.adslguide.org/ is a great site to look at if you're thinking of broadband - comparisons of the ISPs and the forums give you a good idea of how pleased (or not!) people are with theirs.

Plusnet/Force9 used to a useless set of ***** - maybe they've sorted themselves out recently.

This is correct, I rang them about this and it was then i found out it was only 3 times faster than dial up so they tried to sell me the 10 times faster than dial up which was dearer than the supplier i have now.

Tiscali use a data stream for there £15.99 package. So just because your exchange is broadband enabled, don't automatically assume you will be able to get the Tiscali package.

If anyone wants to know if they are on a datastream exchange - let me know and I can check. :D

You can just type your telephone number in on the tiscali website and it will tell you.
