I WANT TO BE A REFUGEE AGAIN
'They get better homes'

A SOMALIAN woman granted British citizenship a decade ago wants her refugee status back so she can get a better house.

Mum-of-three **** ******* has been living in a cramped home with her young children and claims it is a health hazard.

That is how the story starts.

Basically, this woman is claiming that she would be better off being a refugee than a British Citizen, and assumes she has the right to pick and choose her status depending on the benefits.

Someone ought to drag her around all the other British Citizens' homes that are not fit to live in. Or give her the third option of buggering off back to Somalia.

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth.

This thread is NOT a pop at refugees in general by the way.

I hope not. If it does then I'll be abandoning it.

Refugeism is the all the rage these days. But did you know that countries such as Greece take in many more asylum seekers than us.

Due to their geographical location they take in many refugees from Turkey, Iran, Iraq etc - who use their country as an interim base before descending upon the 'real' west - namely the UK.

Didn't know this, but its not refugees in general this thread is about, just the article at the top.

No, I know that. I was just pointing a fact out. I did a teaching course a couple of years ago about teaching English to foreigners and this was something I learnt.

It sounds pathetic, though. It really does.

But I'm afraid that articles like this are twisted for effect.

That's why I don't read the papers anymore.

Sorry SM, I've been anticipating some 'refugee rants'.

What do you think about the woman in the article?

Is she helping the refuge cause?

I think the woman in the article was probably slightly misquoted for sensational appeal, but obviously the report must be fairly accurate.

Taking it at face value, if she was better off before, she is quite within her rights to request refugee status to improve her standard of living.

Laughable, I know, but it's the system. Can't blame the woman, though.

It's this country in general. Our major industries are deckchair plants and road cone factories, and as they don't have road works anywhere else in the world, we can't even export them.

And who else wants deckchairs?

We will have triangular stamps and coins with holes in the middle before you know it.

Mark my words.

Hmm, as a contender for northernmost banana republic Britain also needs a profitable cash crop for its peasant farmers, and big uniforms with lots of gold braid and epaulettes for the Military - who need to take over asap from the bunch of loons in at the moment.

Its a tempting thought, marxist rebels in sherwood forest...

A little off topic Fletch. :P

Also, why does one page with a topless model make the entire newspaper a porn mag?

Please let me know via PM so that the thread doesn't get sidetracked any further. ;)

the daily star has more than one lass with skimy clothes on, but anyway....

no doubt the story has been made to sound worse, but do you blame her?

Hang on a minute, is someone trying to suggest that the tabloid press is dishonest?

Shame on you!
