Division street/ devonshire street, in the city centre is ace for cool clothes.

If you know where the John lewis is at Barkers Pool you can use that aas a landmark (Just ask a local to point you in the right direction for "cole brothers" -as JL was known until recently- otherwise)

head up division street, past LLoyds number one bar, and the RSVP, and you've a brilliant shopping street, and The Forum is good too, for speciality/ unusual stuff.

Well worth a look, snowboarder.

Ta for that tip. Will get an A to Z and wonder around and try not to look like I am lost. No I will find my way around. What is the parking like round that area in the day, is it hell?

Devonshire area is good for bohemian type clothing, try the Forum on Devonshire green, theres also Freshmans next door to Flares if you fancy more retro 70s type clothing, and Rocky Horrors near Forum sell goth/punk type clothes.

Where are you travelling from?

public transport (bus/ tram) are very good. (better option if you are wanting a wander about)

there *is* parking, but it's like hen's teeth to get hold of, esp on Saturdays.

there's parking at John lewis, or off west street on eldon street, ( just below the new tesco on Royal Plaza - the new big flats)

hey some great suggestions here, many thanks. I did not think I would get a reply so quick on a SUnday as well. I live in STannington so know the bus service is TERRIBLE, hence the car which takes 9 minutes to drive to the City, well it did yesterday morning anyway.

Just about to take a drive over to Division street, found it on the map, along the A57 through Broomhill, Glossop rd and straight on across ring road and turn right somewhere off West street....hey I might not even get lost. Is anything open on Sundays there or is it a ghost street?

This is a link to Forum shopping centre http://fp.forum.f9.co.uk but its shut Sundays, dunno about anything else in Devonshire Quarter, best bet on a Sunday is probably Meadowhell...sorry Meadowhall, or Fargate but I think shops shut earlier

TopMan is a good choice, fairly cheap, and for the students (if any here) they give ya 10% but will ask you if you want the fantastic TopMan card that doesn't offer more than what you already get with your NUS card :o

Your best bet is Meadowhall with your tucci, envy, ****, Kookai, USC etc. Get all your designer clothes from there. Great sale on at mo in Tucci, got some gorge coats! Is hell tho on a Saturday, best time to go is on a weekday around dinner time. Shops in town are ok, Next and Topshop but no real exciting ones. Colder and windy too.
Have fun!

Meadowhall is so lame, since when do you go to Meadowhell for shopping ? Meadowhell has so no choice of shops, City Centre kicks Meadowhell so badly

I reckon the best time to visit Mhall is on weekday evenings.
Weekday dinnertimes are full of people wondering around browsing at crap they dont want, trying to use up their full dinner-hour (me).

Better still, dont go to Mwhall, go up Division Street and shop in the few shops up that way.

Infact, drive to L**ds or Nottingham. Sheffield sucks for shopping.

You could try Fat Face in Orchard Square, or there's one on Ecclesall Road, cool stuff, not townie and definitely more 'urban'. You can check their website out at www.fatface.co.uk

There's some other shope on Ecclesall Road - fat face, cheeky monkey and a few more. They're a short walk towards town from the small tesco's.

Do like Fat face - now all we need is a White Stuff!

The crazy thing is, you wait for ages for something like Fat Face to turn up in Sheffield and then 2 turn up at once!

B2B was good when it was on West Street, then at West One, they had interesting stuff you couldn't get anywhere else. The re-incarantion in Meadohall is just a name sake, it's not got the same vibe, all they sell now is what I call "massive logo designer" gear.

Sa-Kis on Division street is the only decent menswear shop in Sheffield IMO.

Hmmmm I wonder why the OP edited his post to 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'

Can't help if he or she doesn't stipulate what they mean by coolest clothing stores. Coolest for what? Chavs, Goths, Skaters, 10 year old tomboys, bobble hat wearing old dears????

I suspect he edited it as it was back in 2004 so probably no longer cool.
