This might sound like a stupid question, but I've just got an MP3 player and want to play it through the speakers in my car.

However it only has a radio/CD player (no cassette) and wondered whether there was any adapter you could buy to make it play through the speakers.

You can get FM kits. You can tune in the radio to a FM frequency and listen to it. They are the more expensive versions.

Also you can check to see if your car stereo has an audio in. If so you may just need a cable, only the higher end ones do.

Not super powered FM transmitters, just a small local one as all WiFi laptops and routers have.

Here you go one for less that 20 squids.

Or some more options.. (from as low as 7 quid)

Always someone who spoils the fun. Whilst i can't condone anything illegal, however there are a few kits around that allow you to make an AM transmitter which i believe, though i may be wrong, is legal (as long as it's low powered)

Believe me, tape couriers (the adapters) are pap, tried them in various car stereo's with various sources, they're usually to quiet which means you have ramp up volume which introduces a nasty hum. Maybe i've had bad makes of adapters though.

A friend of mine has a small plug in thing that sits on top of his iPod and it transmits a radio signal that can be tuned into from his car radio. I'll have to find out what it's called though. it's only a dinky little thing :)

Try the second one, there is no warning on those. It may have something to do with fixed band FM transmitters.

One thing i want to know is why are they all marketed as iPod things, i mean, there's loads of other, better, mp3 players out there. Mine might not be perfect but it was cheaper than an iPod

iTrip for ipods, only their quality isn't fab.

BUT if you fancy a bit of DIY electronics you can boost em

wiith that nifty bit of electrickery

as for illegalities, the only way that you would possibly get caught is if a policeman came within a small amount of distance from you, managed to triangulate the very weak FM signal (of a moving object?) and then , having (impossibly) successfully singled you out, actually caught you transmitting.

possible? hardly.

that is what you are looking for, if you don't have an ipod.

Nope, no aux jack on my (or any of the other) car stereo's
