I wonder if anyone has had an experiences with a zero carb diet and what they achieved in the time they used it.

Something I have heard is that when you start eating Carbohydrates again, the weight piles back on.
I generally do a lot of exercise (4 times a week at a minimum) which is usually weight training, running and cycling. Male-21
My fitness is good, but I find it hard to lose weight, fat in particular. My diet is pretty good, as a chef I cook fresh every day. I've recently been away from where I study and so basically I did 2 jogs in 3 weeks (Thats all!!) and evidently put on a lot of weight by just lounging and eating.

It would be interesting to see what sort of results the zero carb diet has had on people. I'm pretty sceptical, but I know it does work. Is it just a case of calories are reduced to such a low amount that weight is lost through normal everyday exercise?

Look forward to hearing about any trials you have had

It's bad...carbs in the morning and afternoon, then try and cut back towards dinner.

With the likes of ourselves who train 3, 4 or 5 times a week, we need that extra push of carbs in our diet.

Its nice to have a zero carb in our diet but carb is very important in our body.. it supplies energy..:-)'

I can't see how zero carb can be healthy - surely it precludes much of the vitamina nd fibre providing food types.

I mostly follow the Glycemic Loading approach and find that quite good for me personally.

I have done this before after my 1st child nearly 3 years ago and lost nearly 3 stone and got down to my pre baby weight. I am now trying it again as it's the only diet that worked and kept the weight off.

Why not just use what I put above? this will do the same but offer better health.

I don't understand this cutting out whole food groups etc-my way is just to count calories religiously if I want to lose weight. That way I can eat something from all groups, and eat what I want (within reason obviously) as long as I come in under my calorie target. Good luck to you if it works for you, but I can't see it being healthy long-term to be honest!

Nope It's not a good long term diet I did this for 3 months and lost all my baby weight and it didn't come back until I fell pregnant again. It was also the only diet I've used which doesn't make the weight come back after

I agree that cutting down on BAD carbs is a good thing. So cutting out excess bread etc will help to lose weight but cutting out on all carbs isn't good for you. A difficult one to asses really, if you are used to eating loads of bread and having a Naan and loads of rice with a curry then cutting back on the amount of carbs is bound to lose weight.

If however you are like my husband who had a low carb diet in the first place and had a minimal amount to lose then cutting out ALL carbs like he did will make you ill. He had 3 days of migraines and other problems before finally giving in to eating normally again  the body needs SOME carbs. Just choose which ones and balance it with a healthy diet.

I've tried cutting out carbs and found the more I avoid them, the more I want them...

If you consciously watch how much you have, or limit yourself to say two slices of toast for breakfast then have a salad for lunch rather than a sarni you'd be surprised at how you stop becoming so obsessed with them.

Its the "cant have" that makes you want them more.

There is no such thing as good, or bad food and to me cutting out any kind of food is not healthy, and certainly not sustainable in the long run.

All food is good food, be it jacket potatos, pasta, your sunday lunch followed by a big slice of chocolate cake + coffee and your favourite tipple

just try to cut down the number of carbs per day, for the last 10 weeks i have limited my carb intake to 40 or less per day, cut out bread/rice/pasta/chips ect and have lost 26 pounds in 10 weeks, once you start its hard as your body is craving for the carbs but i found after a week or so you get past the cravings.
10 weeks on and my diet has totally changed and im eating food that i wouldnt normally touch such as tuna/prawns more chicken and loads of salad instead of the normal chips, potatoe's ect i would have normally had.
i have been weight training for the past 2 years 3-4 times a week and although i had put on weight because of the muscle i had put on i hadn't got rid of the belly, cutting down on the carbs had a big impact on this, 26 pounds in 10 weeks and its still coming of
