This April, Scotland’s riotous enchanting live club experience BALKANARAMA comes to Sheffield, offering the Sheffield audience an opportunity to experience sounds and tastes of the Balkans! With a jam-packed bill of live gypsy, klezmer and Balkan music, Balkan Beats DJs, gypsy dancers, live Balkan visuals and free home-made Balkan plum brandy it’s set to be one hell of a party!

Balkanarama, originally inspired by cultural and musical diversity of the Balkans, features anything from amazing up-beat gypsy brass and yearning sweet sevdah music that tells long elaborate tales of love and hate, to cathartic klezmer that makes one want to cry and laugh at the same time, traditional Greek music, haunting polyphonic Bulgarian female choirs and more! It brings together live virtuoso traditional performance and DJs spinning electro Balkan Beats; shots of home-made rakija and slices of sweet baklava!

Exciting, high in energy, with a high quality of music and an element of madness(!), it offers a chance to indulge in a full Balkan experience – a chance to dance, sing, scream, cry, shout, laugh, jump, sigh – to party proper Balkan style! OPA!

“You are hit by something utterly alive and you are able to see beyond the shiny instruments,
wobbly bellies and rattling drums right into Balkanarama’s heart. And it beats fast and furious”
“A truly unique event” with “some of the finest gypsy-jazz musicians around " The List
“Balkan is the new punk” The Scotsman
