I've been meaning to ask on the forum for ages about whether anyone knew about this.
The original buildings here looked very interesting, like a castle.
The site is behind the Grange tower block on Tower Drive, Norfolk Park, and entrance is just beside the Park Grange Croft tram stop.
There looks to be some new buildings sprouting up, and the demolition of the castle type buildings.
Can't find anything on the web about it.

Queens Tower was originally built in the 1800's for a wealthy family. At this time all the surrounding land would have been owned by the Duke of Norfolk.
I have great memories of QT as a kid and as a young adult a member of the Squash Club down there.
If they're ripping this place down then I think it's criminal.
I't would have made a great base for a hotel or a second home for us had I won the lottery.

Don't panic, they're not ripping up Queen's Tower. That's the good news.
The bad news is that they seem to have gained permission to build new luxury flats all around it, so it will be almost completely obscured from sight.
Sheffield planners...don't you love 'em?

The turreted wall nearest to Park Grange Road is currently being pulled down, not sure whether this will include the towers at its ends though. Will keep on watching.
This place is owned by the same person who owns the site of the Classic Rock Bar, which will also probably get demolished soon as they get planning permission.

I'll try and check with planning about it.

Unfortunately as so often happens, only parts of Queens Tower are listed.
In the rush to let developers build these flats all over the city, heritage runs a far-off last place to soul-less development.
It's looking like even the bits of the building that are left will be hidden behind the new buildings.
Stamp my foot in fury? The ground shook. It's soooo annoying!

Absolutely. I don't think the building looked enough like Milton Keynes to the planning department.
The ironic thing is that they're trying to make Sheffield a significant European city, while destroying the heritage that 'real' significant European cities are actually visited and loved for.
All that will be left soon are a few original building facades with office blocks and chain stores bolted on.
It's so frustrating!
