Have you never heard of Grand Theft Auto. ?:D
PastTime 24-04-2011, 20:55 Yeah lol but how many little thugs are going to sit at home thinking it's cool and try and take it to the next level? So many ppl have bull breeds now and it only takes a few imbeciles to say my dogs bigger than you dog and it's just so wrong.
Rainrescue 24-04-2011, 20:56 I just can't believe this - is it really the people that own google?
Yes it is the ppl that own Google and in the link it says that the people that have made the game gave the following coment "“If you have a bug up your b*tt about the game concept, remember: It is just A VIDEO GAME…”

I have sent them a link to Sprout's facebook page. See if they can call THAT entertainment! I really wish I could swear on here. I have loads of expletives bursting to come out!!
staffsNlaffs 24-04-2011, 21:53 How many of you use google as a search engine? Might be an idea you switch to a different one...
Bloomdido 24-04-2011, 21:58 Picked it up from Twitter and have sent emails. Idiots.
staffsNlaffs 24-04-2011, 22:15 Android apps run as a cooperative so although it is led by Google they do not have the final say in what does and what does not get marketed. They have the power to pull sites that use spyware or infect with viruses as and when they find them. The game itself is not developed by Google but by anyone of a number of games manufacturers that make use of the 'platform' that is Android.
fabcakes 24-04-2011, 22:28 :o:o:o this is just wrong how can people find this entertaining :loopy:
i fail to see the fun in it :(
staffsNlaffs 24-04-2011, 22:40 Without defending the game, for years we've been killing people in the name of entertainment, grand theft auto was prostitutes, why is this one different, it's virtual. Dog fighting exists, it's disgusting and wrong but banning the game wont stop the reality and it's the reality that causes the pain, it's the reality that needs to be stopped. It's the reality that needs to be protested against.

vwkittie 25-04-2011, 09:31 Hmmm although my initial reaction is of course one of absolute disgust, there are games were you murder people, pimp out women, bully children etc etc. How do we decide what should be censored and what shouldn't be

That's what I said ;)

The same company that owns google  You mean google then?
Two minutes research has indicated that this is absolutely nothing to do with google, it's a game made by a company called Kage Games LLC.
staffsNlaffs 25-04-2011, 10:13 Yeah, said that, the confusion lies in the fact that Google is part of the group that set up the Android platform. Basically it allows games etc to be on the market but without a single controller to monopolise.
I just can't believe this - is it really the people that own google?
The linked article is a bit misleading in that respect... The "game" is designed to run on Android phones / tablets and whilst Google developed the operating system they are nothing to do with the game itself, a company called "Kage Games LLC (http://www.kagegames.com)" are.
**Edit**
Opps, duplicate info - really should stop skimming threads before replying....

I know how the android market works, but blaming google for this game makes about as much sense as blaming Microsoft for Grand Theft Auto.
BTW - there is no group, google owns Android, lock stock and barrel.
frank ryan 25-04-2011, 13:12 when every child in the world is fed, watered, educated and provided with health care, then we can worry about virtual cruelty - it's a game, no doggy gets hurt, no harm is done.
sexy_lucy 25-04-2011, 15:11 I had a look on my android market thing on my phone and the good news is, upto now its not available in the uk going to find out soon if it's available in the US.
EDIT: All I can find is people trying to ban it so hopefully it has been stopped before it's being created.

Enjoying a bank holiday tinny so going to be outspoken but with an attitude like that the chances of "every child in the world is fed, watered, educated and provided with health care" are never going to happen... The point is no good will come from such a game and whilst GTA etc has got a mention its a reasonable assumption that most people can accept such things as fantasy if only because one human is equal to another, animals however are often treated as lesser beings and as such its inevitably easier to abuse something you see inferior
Something to think about... would you have the same attitude if it was a "mega child fight" type game....

there are games that glorify war, violence, guns etc - wouldn't play 'em myself cos I don't do video games and I'm not into violence, but they are games, no one gets hurt, no one suffers - you can't ban anything that you find distasteful, it's not china or saudi arabia.

I didn't say anything about banning anything, but yes such a game is in very bad taste - guess for me personal its a case of some games, movies etc are pure fantasy even if it is "over the top" but at least the average joe should be able to see that it is nothing more than that and perhaps most importantly realise the implications of turning that fantasy into reality - my point was that crimes against animals carry much less weight in the eyes of the law than those against humans and as such how many idiots will take said game as "inspiration" to take out any issues they may have on animals given that the consequence for the same actions are far far less. Or put another way, if i'm having a bad day why kick seven bells out of some bloke on the street and risk doing time for it when i can do the same to an animal and cop for a few hours community service and maybe a fine assuming anyone bothers to investigate that far anyway.....
studies have already been done which have shown that both playing such games and watching such images on tv desensitises the player or viewer, reducing their 'empathy' in real life situations
I feel the same way about this as I did about GTA - tears before bedtime. No good can come of its existence. There's a large group of nutters that just shouldn't be encouraged into thinking their warped thoughts are somehow acceptable
You could say that about every game and every movie where people are killed.
whats the differance in this and say grand theft auto?
Canis lupus 26-04-2011, 14:24 Levels of acceptance vary from one person to the next. What some find abhorrent others do not. The same could be said of other sports involving animals I suppose, none are particularly pleasant as a spectacle and personally I think you're all twisted.

we live in a country where people happily buy cheap clothes made by impoverished, effectively captive, child labour in the 3rd world but insist on free range eggs. I think that's weird.
this is a GAME - if someone's actually torturing/killing animals for sport (eg prince charles or madonna) that's vile, but this is just a stupid game for retards - no one/thing gets harmed

Not going to disagree with you as such but....

.... I dont think there is any need for games that are in such bad taste regardless of the subject matter, should a company come up with "sweatshop manager deluxe" that portrayed the example quoted above my feelings would be the same - whether the subject is legal or not, if something is in such poor taste is there any real reason to go ahead and produce it in the first place?
Banning things that people may find offensive is a slippery slope and one that I'd rather not go down but i do think that the people that make such material should perhaps consider the bigger picture - going back to my other posts what happens if your "stupid game for retards" is taken by said "missguided" (hate the word retard) person as a good idea for the reasons already said? All of a sudden someone / thing does get hurt and while i'd like to think the chances of that happening are pretty slim there are enough muppets out there to no doubt prove otherwise.
