View Full Version : Anybody used tiscali broadband? isis 10-12-2005, 14:17 We are thinking of changing our broadband providerafter a loy of problems with the current one,Tiscali are offering a decent package but i dont know anybody who is using them. any advice please..... adaline 10-12-2005, 14:32 Their ok, as long as you know what to do when your connection goes down, dont bother ringing their support! Im on "2mb unlimited" package, but its not actually unlimited, but i do use it quite alot and only time they clamped me was waved as the smartass system forgot to send me an email to nottify me prior to clamping. Havent had any complaints about my usage since. JFKvsNixon 10-12-2005, 15:03 I've got their broadband and phone package for about a year, and have never had any problems. Very easy to set up. hockeybear 10-12-2005, 22:48 Originally posted by JFKvsNixon I've got their broadband and phone package for about a year, and have never had any problems. Very easy to set up. me too no probs hrd83 10-12-2005, 23:05 I am with them at present....... Freephone number to order (and give your bank details)........ National rate when you have a problem......mine was that I didn't receive the start up pack in the post...modem, filters etc..I had to ring to get a new pack sent out. First they told me to ask the postman if he had seen a parcel, perhaps go to the post office and ask there too, before finally agreeing that ok they would send out another pack. This was when I said I wanted to cancel btw. I was also billed for a fortnights use, before I had even received the modem!Took another effort to get them to agree to refund this...I will hopefully get this back in the form of a credit on my next bill....2 months after the money was taken from my account! (also - don't use the email help system....2 weeks to get a reply, and the reply was nothing to do with my question) It's not just Tiscali, I find a lot of companies are like this........very easy to purchase something but when you want help, it can be exceedingly difficult. vidster 10-12-2005, 23:30 My brother uses Tiscali and he spends more time disconnected than connected. He hates it with a passion and can't wait for his contract to end. He is supposed to have a 2mb connection yet he never reaches that speed :? chri5 11-12-2005, 09:38 Tiscali are fine until you want to move house! All hell breaks loose then. I ended up being disconnected for 4 weeks before I eventually canceled. FORE 11-12-2005, 13:15 My son has been trying to get connected with them for last SIX WEEKS. Now has a 2nd modem package, but as yet no improvement. TECH HELP WAS MOST FRUSTRATING, he could not understand what the guy was saying, and he could not understand my son. It was apparently from Asia. He would get useless advice like take PC to first BT box & connect there. We were going to sign together, but I dipped out and thought I'll see he they perform for him first!! FORE 12-12-2005, 21:30 Tiscali now sorted. (See above) Apparently BT needed to sort their end out. Yes I said apparently - draw your own conclusions. |
