Workshop for young people aged 11-18 to work on and audition for parts in a production of Romeo and Juliet - The Steel City Edition taking place as part of the Sheffield Children's Festival on June 2.
...
This contemporary musical version of Romeo and Juliet has been rewritten by Charlotte Proctor for Inyerface Theatre Company. It retains all the original Shakespearean plot and phrase structure, but is delivered in Sheffield dialect.

Capulets have become "Chav's" and Montagues are "Mosher's". The action is centred on Fargate with Romeo eventually being banished to Rotherham. The music and songs for the show are all from well known Sheffield Bands from the 1980s to the noughties. This session at the Library Theatre is to workshop the play and to audition for parts. Rehearsals will normally take place after school on a Tuesday 4-6pm either at the Theatre or at Heritage Park Community School.

The performance will take place on Friday 24th June in the Library Theatre as part of the Sheffield Children's Festival.
