Is there any history of twins in either your family or the family of the father? If not then I think the chances are fairly slim.

Riddle:

A woman gives birth to 2 boys on the same day, in the same year. Yet they are not twins. How can this be?

If the midwife is good she may be able to tell at 12 weeks when she examines the size of the bump to see if its right. Also if the morning sickness is really bad that can indicate a higher presence of the pregnancy hormone HCG and possibly a twin pregnancy. Other than that the only way is a scan as far as I know.

I want twins when I have kids. Two lots of twins actually. I know the chances are slim but if I had a choice that is what I'd go for. A male and a female each time if I could choose further. And then maybe one on it's own. So five in all.

however, this all depends on me actually meeting a girl with strong enough hips to cope with that many kids and wanting that many (anyone?) and me be a resonsible adult and enough money to look after them...

I always understood that if there was no history of twins in the family, the chances of having them are small. People thought I was having twins - but no, just one huge son!

morning sickness...due to pregnancy hormone being doubled,if its worse than before or for a first time, a lot of sickness 24/7...indications are/could be twins...only scan can really tell though :)

I can tell from experience that a pregnancy test is faster in response when carrying twins, I tested positive 2 days before missing a period.
You don't fit in normal clothes VERY quickly.
I didn't have morning sickness at all and the midwife was stunned.
And most bizarre of all, now I'm mostly recovered from the c section, I'm thinking these two aren't enough and maybe we should have more but a singleton wouldn't be as cool as twins.
Maybe I should adopt those twins who were abandoned, I probably would too!

No twins in my family, but my mum still had me and my sister. Hoping it was just down to her age, but apparently it's fraternal twins that run in the family (identical's are just random) and that's what we are. Really don't want 2 at a time, so finger's crossed we were just freak accidents lol

The couple I bought my house off were expecting naturally conceived fraternal triplets (which is why they were moving to somewhere with more room!), and neither family had a family history of multple births. They went on to have a single baby afterwards and then twins. I think we can safely say that they now have a family history of multiples. My point? Family histories have to start somewhere, as do genetic conditions.
