View Full Version : S10sys.com Sheffield Ecommerce and Web development?
dbassline 07-12-2005, 09:42 Hi, has anyone heard of or used this Sheffield based company before s10sys.com ?
I heard they were responsible for easyetrader and Spacecomputers , does anyone know if this is true? I used easyetrader a lot when they were still going, support a local company and all that
now I am looking to have my own website coded and would really like the same system as either spacecomputers or easyetrader as they were IMHO the best ecommerce sites on the web. If anyone has any information about s10sys.com or the developers responsible for the spacecomputers or easyetrader websites please respond. :D
Space computers is indeed made by s10sys looking at the author tag, prety well made too

Never heard of them.
However, the easytrader.com website the site mentions fails to resolve (hardly confidence inspiring).

Oops:D
Then again, you'd think they (s10sys) would've removed a dead domain from their list of clients?
Pipebomb 07-12-2005, 13:43 I used Easyetrader loads when it was around. Their website was pretty reliable.
Spacecomputers is still going so check out that.
Seems sweet to me :)
Pete1024 08-12-2005, 10:12 I'd thoroughly recommend WXG media for website and ecommerce coding.
I'm saving up to have a website done by them myself.
As an IT professional myself I know whats good and what is not.
WXG's number is 0114 2500300.

Pete1024, I'm not sure that the ecommerce side of WXG is that hot from what I've seen? They also have dead links on their site, althouhg s10sys.com don't seem to actually link to easyetrader, they just mention it. I saw easyetraders backoffice system some time back and it was amazing by anyones standards, looks like they call it workspace or something.
I will be dealing in similar volumes of product lines to space and easye which is something I know s10sys can handle, I've seen some systems start to crawl above 200 product lines, I need to handle 800,000 lines, specs and images!!!
I wonder what they charge though, I guess a phone call is the next step. :D

That's probably more down to the server, rather than the actual code though:).
dbassline 09-12-2005, 15:24 I've got to disagree to a certain extent sccsux, good streamlined code requires much less power, look at xbox and ps2's for example, not much power but capable of great things with streamlined games code.
I've tried using actanic catalogue and some other templated catalogue systems, installed them on a dual zeon machine running Linux and it crawled at around 1000 products when performing any kind of search, price lists were taking forever.

Which is why I often code the backend of domains myself, rather than relying on a generic script;).
