Does anyone know of any openings with regards to a trainee solicitor position within south yorkshire (or even west yorkshire)?

Failing that, does anyone know of any openings for a paralegal position within the area?

I have been looking but vacancies are non-existent!!!

I'm also looking for paralegal position within Sheff and its pretty crap....but agencies do have some vacancies.

my best advice is to write to firms direct with a cover letter and enclosing your CV.

Yes, its hard work and there are a lot, but this is the best way.

I've just started my training contract so i know the nightmare that applying for one involves.

Have you got a law degree or have you done a conversion course? if you are at uni now the careers service will be able to point you in the right direction.

Most firms recruit during the summer months by way of an application form or CV. For the big firms you need to apply during June/July to commence in September two years later. So, if you apply in Summer 2006 you will start your training contract in Sept 2008. The smaller firms work differently though - if there are any that you are particularly interested in i'd advise giving them a call.

As far as paralegal work goes, i'm sorry to say this but i think you'll struggle to get any if they know that your ultimate aim is to get a training contract. Like SomiUK, i'd recommend trying some agencies. I managed to get paralegal work before I secured my training contract and that was through an agency called Legal Execs. They're based in Leeds but they have work available in Sheffield.

I would suggest trying agencies and contacting firms direct.

There is a quiet spell in the market at the moment with it being clse to Christmas, however things should pick up in January.
