Judging by the presentation of their home page, is it any wonder we have a serious 'e-crime' problem in the UK...

What's more annoying is that the only people who are allowed to work for this unit are existing police officers. So all the 'geeks' (who could really make a difference in combatting computer crime) are ever so slightly put off by the fact they will need to spend at least 2 years on the beat tackling late night drunks, football riots etc!

...where's the logic in that? Surely in order to attract the cream of UK computer talent it would be better if they could apply directly, rather than via the internal police recruitment system.

Just an idea ;)

Where does it say that? Clicked on the careers link - no vacancies, but it says

If you are dedicated to our objectives and enthusiastic, a graduate or experienced professional, there is a role for you in NCIS.

- BTW agree about the homepage!

I'm hoping that they've changed the rules, but on their old site (which was far better than the current one) it clearly said that the only positions open to civilians were admin/secretarial jobs. All other jobs were open to anyone within the police force.
