What... all of them? Sounds like you should be googlin'

Ummm....

depression - prozac
child with personality - ritalin
CJD - none
lithium and valium are calming, used for panic attacks etc
Is Parkinson's a mental illness? Ecstasy has shown some success in providing respite, which could be good to irk a teacher.

There's a list at
http://psychcentral.com/medslist.htm

Erm... that's just medication treatment which is NOT the only way to treat a mental health issue.

Counselling, ECT, etc.. are other forms of treatment...

Oh and AD(H)D is not a mental illness it's a disorder...

Sorry but to list ALL psychological illnesses and their treatments would take you months. Have you read the DSM? Its pretty long. Are you sure you havent got your wires crossed?

Do your own homework!
I would help you, but only if you showed some evidence that you'd tried to do some work yourself. I see no evidence from your post that you have - just thay you seem to expect others to do your homework for you. Sorry - no chance.

mental illness can be broadly split into 2 catagories: psychosis disorders - where the patient cannot recognise that they are ill, and personality disorders where the patient can see that they are ill, within those 2 groups are numerous illnesses and disorders.
Treatment comes in 5 main groups; psychanalysis, behavioural,,physical,cognitive,humanistic-phenomolgical and action therapy, again, within those catagories are numerous methods of treatment.

What level are you studying psychology at?

I started AS Psychology.. Interesting enough in some parts.. but going over and over memory modules grew tiring.

I binned it after about 6 months...

Although I did read a book about how to tell if someone is lying/nervous/happy/angry, so don't try to fake your mood or lie to me!

I have a pyschology book called (cunningly enough) Pyschology, by Gleitmann et al. It has chapters on mental illnesses and their treatments in there, plus references of course. I'm not copying stuff out for you though - go to the library ;)

What's the actual question for this homework? Is this a tiny part of the whole assignment or is it something that you feel you'd like to add into it to give it more value? What is the question trying to achieve? Homeworks don't tend to ask for lists without having a purpose.

I was going to ask what classic rock asked, so instead I would suggest the BBCi health page as a good place to start with the basics, but to actually list ALL the mental ilnesses and their treatments would take weeks of solid typing!! Try looking at the www.bps.prg.uk for more links if you're really set on your task...

schizophrenia - atypical antipsychotics (olanzapine)
depression - selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (fluoxetine)
obessive compulsive disorder - as above
bipolar disorder - atypical antispychotics (Olanzapine Risperidone,Aripiprazole)
anxiety disorders -Benzodiazepene Tranquilisers (Alprazolam)

any good?

Very good point. Dunno if people still do lobotomies?

Oh and AD(H)D is not a mental illness it's a disorder...
What's the difference? (Genuine question).

"Is Parkinson's a mental illness? Ecstasy has shown some success in providing respite, which could be good to irk a teacher."

Well, I've got PD and yes, there are neuropsychiatric issues. The disease is caused by the unexplained loss of the cells in the brain that produce Dopamine which governs mood and perception as well as movement. The medications used to compensate for this lack of naturally occurring Dopamine often lead to anxiety and delusion and personality disorder. Anti anxiety NSSRIs such as Venlafaxine may be used to treat these effects/side effects...
Ecstasy would only work on Parkies who already have had some experience with the drug and are likely to appreciate the positive aspects of the experience rather than being ovewhelmed by it. Peoples brains maintain a fragile equilibrium and with Parkinson's the illness really is all in the mind. The fact that the mind/brain/mood affect wellness and sense of wellbeing is manifest in PD. It's treatment requires lengthy trial and error with flawed medicines that diminish in effect over the months and years. Just because millions of people take e or something that they've been told is e doesn't mean it's safe. If you keep on hammering your brain, inside or our, there will be a reckoning! aaargghh
