"ntl confirms approach to Virgin Mobile

Following the media speculation you may have seen over the weekend, ntl have confirmed this morning that they have approached Virgin Mobile about a potential offer to combine the ntl and Virgin Mobile businesses.

They are also in discussion with Virgin Enterprises about extending their existing licence to use their brand in the broadband area to cover television and fixed line and mobile telephony.

If the proposed combination of the two businesses and the licensing agreement are completed, ntl plan to offer a full quadruple play of Virgin-branded products covering broadband, television, fixed and mobile telephony.

Discussions are still taking place on both subjects and no agreements have yet been reached. These discussions do not affect our plans to bring together ntl and Telewest and we are continuing to work towards combining the two businesses.

I had a read of this on DS - I believe tey're keeping the Virgin branding for the cable, and they're merging - let's face it, the [Virgin's] BB's is already run by we-have-very-few-servers NTL, so the Virgin's ADSL will stay the say the same!
