Try John Lewis, particularly just before and during their sale. Starts immediately after Xmas/Boxing Day

Got a washing machine from JLP for £220 (I think) 3-4 years ago, a fridge about 2 years ago for £150 and a bed last year all of which have been excellent value unlike their computer department junk; even their computer department manager advised me their stuff is rubbish and not to buy it :D

Thanks everyone for all the recommendations.....looks like John Lewis is my starting point...
The two year guarantee is definately worth looking at.

Powerline at Darnall - go and see Jason. They sell new stuff and some is graded (cosmetic damage) so is reduced even further. I use them regular when people want discount appliances.

There's a place on Wadsley Bridge shops - might by ACE domestics? - very good range of new and recond...stuff at competitive prices

We bought our current washing machine from there and he delivered and fitted it within a hour of purchase at no extra cost.

There is a place in Doncaster called Factory Shack and I bought a cooker from them just over 2 years ago quite cheaply. I believe there is now one in Sheffield. At the same time I bought a washer from an ex catalogue shop in Doncaster, this has been great. I cant remember the name of the shop but it was similar to the one opp Hughes. It was an indesit washer dryer and I got it for 139.95 and it had a guarantee. However they were both quite basic models, so if you want something fancy you may well be better off going to Coles or Comet.

Got sorted with washing machine and fridgefreezer at
Powerline ( slight scratches...but the price was right ! )

Still need cooker but going to wait for sales.....my very old trusty
cooker still works.

Thanks everyone for your help
