Does anybody know when the tinsley viaduct part of the M1 is reverting back to 3 lanes?
I go over it everyday and recently the southbound side has had all the cones removed and the third lane is there but not being used!!

It is going to stay as 2 lanes. They announced this a month or two ago.
It has been decided that the current layout of two lanes each way, with dedicated lanes for traffic entering and leaving the M1 at this busy junction, will be maintained until the completion of work to widen the M1 between Chesterfield and Leeds, which was announced in April this year.

They are not intending to revert back to 3 lanes. There was a piece on this on the BBC South Yorkshire website recently. As it is the dedicated slip roads to Meadowhall reduce conjestion on the M1 and by reverting back to 3 lanes this would apparently cause jams.
Thanks for that, hadn't heard that it was staying as is!
Wonder if I could sell the third lane on ebay as no one wants it??
 if you did, somebody would try to build houses on it :P
I can see the estate agent's blurb now :D
3 bedroom detached, in the popular area of Meadowhell, within easy access of the M1 :hihi:
