The Planning Department of Sheffield City Council have finally got their on-line service up and running.
It is a great improvement.

Plans and maps for all applications from October onwards can be viewed online without having to go to Howden House.

That is a pretty good site and good to know.
But there's still this long-standing site:
http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/in-your-area/weeklylist
Which I prefer as it shows applications by area.

You can continue to use both pages.
That older page that you refer to gives first notification of applications but gives you no details.
Previously you would have to go into Howden House to look at the detailed application, plans etc.
You would take the Application Number of interest from the weekly list and use it in the new site to view the plans online.
There is a function in the new site to search by Ward name and in fact I have just used it to find a new application that is not in the latest weekly list.
That is absolutly brilliant, I am of a nosey nature really, I will spend a lot of time on this web site. I did hear about earlier this year but then forgot about it. Thanks for bringing it to our notice.
Will try to get up to speed!

Thanks for reporting this [good] development here on the forum (about time!)
I for once will be sure to take a good look from time to time in the future.
Cheers, John.
That's a pretty useful site. Annoying that it only works properly in IE though.
