Why! oh Why! do people in Sheffield, set up there own business and then when you go to them with an offer of tending for a contract, say they are going to come and quote via an arranged appointment and then never turn up.

I have rung 7 Landscaping companies in Sheffield over the past 2 weeks. 2 were honest enough to admit that due to their workload they could not guarantee works be done until March. 1 turned up but so far after 10 days we have received no quote, and the other 4 despite agreeing to come and tender have failed to show up.

We could quite easily use the services of a national company, however we would rather support smaller business within the local community. I am now beginning to wonder is this the right attitude.

Anyone else had similar experiences, or know of any decent Landscapers (Commercial) who would be willing to quote on quite a large job?
