just wondering what people think of keeping snakes as pets...................i have a few and i love them :hihi:

snakes are cool, but wouldn't have one as a pet. No fair on poor snakey who wants to go out catching his supper and making baby snakes.

Love snakes. Once new a couple in Liverpool who turned their front room into a mini-zoo, with snakes, lizards and big, big spiders. Fabulous.

Once had a smallish snake entwine itself around my arm. It was a creepy sensation as you felt this creature constrict itself around your flesh. It was even more sensational when it suddenly crapped all over my elbow! :hihi:

love 'em. Not fazed by em at all.

I had an incident, once, where a friend's hubby tried to freak me out by placing a huge python in my hands.

He expected me to scream, and go all "girly" on him.

I just stroked the snakes head and didn't turn a hair.

I think it impressed him! lol

now, when it comes to spiders!

That's a different matter, entirely.... *freaks out*

Loved both my garter snake and my tarantulas. Zith (my snake) and I had a very close relationship, with most people not realising that he was in my pocket for much of my time at Uni. Not something you'd wish to do with a venomous snake or tarantula!

i love them got 2 pythons 3 boas and a kingsnake and would have more if i had the space

I don't like Snakes either.. Ever since some idiot at School coiled a fully grown Python round my neck once, how I lived to tell the tale I'll never know :rant:

i have a huge 3' carved wooden cobra in my bedroom (cos no-one else likes it in the living room!) lol

I didnt even know that snakes could crap, but thinking about it they must do, I wouldn't even know where the bum is on a snake.

i'm really scared of snakes, not really sure why. I count one of the bravest things i did last year as looking at a wild one on a beach in canada.
I couldn't live in a house with a snake would be worried about it escaping and slithering around:suspect:

I absolutely love snakes. Always wanted one but my mum was scared to death of them.

My dad once told our neighbour that we had two and they had escaped. She kept coming to say that she was checking her airing cupboard but had not seen them. Dont think he ever put her out of her misery. :heyhey: I know its mean really.

Are they difficult to look after?

I find them fascinating animals, but too dull to be pets.

georgeus, i used to have a couple, could just sit and watch for hours, i had queit a lively albino king snake, so interestinf to watch. lol and mine escaped too never found it

Absolutely agreed.

How on earth does something without limbs manage to move, climb trees and swim?

Completely unnatural.

And that's before I go on about the nasty, venomous ones with their flesh-killing poisons.

Back in Yemen, coming across poisonous snakes while working in the fields is a day-to-day occurence. Never mind; it just gives me an excuse to carry a gun wherever I go.

I like snakes... in theory, at least. I have one tattooed on my right leg. But I could never do the live feeding thing because I love rodents. I used to have pet rats.

I live in inland Victoria, Australia and snakes around here are fairly lethal if they bite you, and the ones that live here are fairly aggresive, they will chase you, Tiger Snakes, Eastern Browns, King Browns lovely. :)

About a year and a half ago we saw one crawling around where we were working....which involves lots of long snake shaped cables!

I was *very* careful after that, though I wasnt really scared of the snake at a distance. No idea if it was poisonous though, but best to keep a distance!

It looked quite cute to be honest, but still I wouldnt want it as a pet. It just reminds me of the guy whose own python tried to eat him....

I hate them because I have a real phobia about them.

I won't go anywhere if I know or suspect there may be any - including many holiday destinations and places such as zoo's etc.

I've been frightened of them since I was very little, I don't know why. I can't bear to look at pictures of them and if there's one on a tv programme I turn the tv off.

My husband had to cut a picture out of a magazine so that I could read the magazine without seeing it.

We once went to visit one of my husbands relatives and in coversation they mentioned that their neighbour had snakes, one of which had the run of the house and could often be seen in the window .. couldn't wait to get out of that house and hundreds of miles away ...

If I had my way I would make them extinct, cruel maybe, but that's how strongly I feel.
