We liked them a lot when we were looking for houses, but unfortuantely they don't have much in the area we eventually bought in. Wish they did, as we ended up buying through Blundells, and we'd have preferred not to.

We buying from them and they're rubbish! Don't know about selling through them, apparently our the vendors are having a few problems (we are speaking to them directly now due the inefficiencies of Haybrook)

Good luck mate!

At the moment I have been looking on the internet looking for houses, I came across a few that Iliked. phoned various estate agents, and had poor response, like they never ring you back to arrange a viewing. I saw one house on the web. the said it just been sold but on the net it is still for sale. so now I avoid ever having to deal with them on the phone.

We had our house on the market with Haybrook about 2 years ago.
They ended up costing us ALOT of money and we lost the house that we desperatly wanted.

We were offering on a house up for sale with Haybrook and we were advised that if we used haybrook to market our property also we would have more chance of getting the house. We did this and the first man that came to look at the house offered the asking price. Haybrook phoned the vendors of the house that we were offering on and let them know before thay even told us!

So we accepted the offer as advised, and after 3 months and a week before exchange of contracts it was found out that this man wasn't allowed in the country.
No explaination from Haybrook.

Their progress centre is crap. Documents were hand delivered and they still tried to make out that they had been lost in the post! And as for the solicitors, they are as bad, never return phone calls e mails etc...

We were bitterly dissapointed and about £500 worse off.

As with any customer servicing company some people will find their estate agents are great and some will find them to be awful.

Obviously those people who have a negative experience with their estate agents are more likely to be comment than those who've had a good experience.

I have bought and sold a fair bit of property and I've found that I have had to chase them more often than I would like but I'm sure people have had the same problem when dealing with me.

I have found that my bank, utility providers and my estate agent
have at some point let me down. In general though they do what they say, I just wish they'd do it quicker.

I'm afraid that as a country our customer service is generally poor anyway.

If you travel to the US for example it's like being on a different planet.

I bought through then last Autumn and was not impressed:

1. I rang to arrange a viewing on a Friday, they took my mobile number and said they'd call back with a day and time. Late Monday I'd heard nothing so I call back only to be informed that apparently I had viewed on Sunday and they had left a message on my mobile asking for my feedback. So I told them I had not even been told about the appointment to view, but the agent decided to argue with me that I had, that a message had been left on my mobile about it, and as I hadn't received either of their messages then my answering service must be at fault. It actually turned out that they had completely the wrong phone number down for me (not just a digit wrong - the whole thing was wrong!).

2. Finally got to the property and I apologised for the mix up. The vendors informed me that Haybrook had told them that I had cancelled the Sunday appointment at short notice! I think this is disgusting, as it made me look bad and may have made the vendors less likely to accept an offer from me (I put them straight though).

3. On taking my ID into the office after having my offer accepted I asked if they needed the offer in writing. The agent said she already had it in writing even though I had only made the offer over the phone. I told her I hadn't put it in writing, but she said "but we have it in writing, over the phone"!! She then went on to lecture me about whether my offer was subject to survey. I said it was, she said that that isn't how it usually works, that you wouldn't pull out on the basis of a survey! I then said I would if there was something seriously wrong with it, and she said "but you've had a look at it, you've seen it's ok"!! I had to remind her that I wasn't a qualified surveyor.

4. The progress centre were useless. The vendors and my solicitor kept me up to date with what was happening, then the progress centre would call anything up to 2 weeks after any major progress was made to let me know what was happening. This included a phone call informing me that the vendors were ready to exchange and we just needed to agree a date for completion. In fact we had already exchanged and were less than a week away from completion.

Of course, they have no reason to treat buyers nicely because we don't pay them anything, but if the 'service' I received was anything to go by they're not doing too much for business in the long term - I certainly wouldn't use them to sell.

I'm BUYING thru Haybrooks at the minute &have to say that their 'help' has been very poor, just 3 telephone call's from them in 10 weeks & one of those was more hinderance than help thankfully I have got a good convayancer & also get on well with the seller so we've been able to keep things running smooth without Haybrook's help. Like all estate agents their more than happy to help you before the sale but once the sale go's thru ... No interest

The problem is they have had a very cushy deal over the past 8 years or so, having to do little work to sell houses for big profit. They haven't had to worry about customer service.
