A former partner of mine had two pugs, plus a pug-boston terrier cross, so I got to know their temperaments well.

When fully grown, they are a little stockier than most people imagine. They are not the brightest of dogs, but are not stupid either (somewhere in-between). They can actually run surprisingly fast (although not for long, as they will soon start panting).

Above all, they want to be loved - they are happiest when in your lap or cuddling up next to you. Those big eyes they have like to follow you around the room, watching your every move and pining for your attention. They don't like being on their own too much. They are certainly not vicious or aggressive, except sometimes with each other (if you have more than one) out of jealously for your attentions. Because of their faces (in particular their big eyes and flat noses) they never quite lose their baby-like quality, even when fully grown. Best of luck with your pug - love it and it will love you back.

What a cutie I'm sure when you're out walking she'll get lots of attention. I know there is a black pug somewhere near me at Woodseats as I've often seen it out and about and it's a very independantly minded little thing and shows no sign of fear even when being over shadowed by my big hound.

Pugs are great!!!

Definately want one, when i find a woman, when i find a house and all that!!!

I think prices for a quality pug are around £900 from KC registration. Not 100% sure though.

You should have lots of happy times with a pug, so very jealous!!!

She is adorable lily1979 I so want a Pug.

My boyfriend is moving in with me in Feb and wants us to get a Rottweiler and I really dont mind getting a Rottie but I have fallen in love with Pugs, I even have a pic of one on my Desktop.

Maybe I will keep the gentle persuasion going in the hope he will eventually relent and get me one.

yes, my mum and dad have a pug called polly, she's mental, iv'e never known a dog be so fussy and want to follow you everywhere like she does, absolutely great dogs, wonderful pets and good tempered too.

and for some reason, she always has her tongue hanging out, and usually walks around everywhere licking fresh air

Nice to know we are not the only stupid people in the area ! (We live in Bakewell) We got our first BLACK pug pup in August. We have two 7yr old French Bulldogs who are delightful and the Pug has joined our happy family. She came from Wales and is called Black Pudding. I have never had a dog quite like Pudding - she is loveable, faithful, funny and infuriating all at the same time. Expect to pay over £850 for one from a reputable breeder, then a little more to the Kennel Club to change ownership name and microchip details. All three dogs get on very well together. Pugs seem to independent, defiant little dogs, they do make funny snorting noises ( due to their soft palate) and they snore. They will bark, if you have another dog aleady that barks. Enjoy your Pug, you won' regret it . You will never own a pug - they will own YOU !
