Can anyone help with advice on how to get rid of this trojan horse? In laymans terms?

Try scanning with one of these online scanners:

or

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

The first should have an option to remove or clean, if it finds it that is ;)
Not sure if the second has the remove or clean virus option, but it should have :confused:

I have tried a couple of these things and no luck upto now - have been told I may need to delete it in safe mode, but it scares me a bit!

another program is Asquared or A2. Its free and good.
