View Full Version : What are Deerpark High Rise flats At Stannington like?

To cut a long story short i am desperately wanting to move flat, and it looks like I have a very good chance of moving to a flat in the Deer Park Cliffe View area of Stannington, I've not heard much good or nothing too bad about the area, so i was wondering what people on here think to this estate?

Now even though somewher like Iraq would be a big improvement on where i'm living now in Gleadless, i do not want to dive in and loose my 9 years waiting time and then be amongst the same kinda nasty primitive anti-social specimens i have to deal with now on a daily basis.

So is this part of Stannington generally speaking a safe area?

Do / have you live(d) in this part of town and regular have / had trouble?

Do you know if the flats are regular getting burgled?

Does anyone know a Tel no i could ring to find out from the Community Police, as presumably they should be able to give me more of an insight into what the area is like?

And does anyone know the name of the website which tells you about reported crime in a particular area?

Any help, advice opinions etc would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

anyone.....??
I was told this was supposed to be a very busy forum? Now i know Sheffield isn't the biggest of cities but i'd of thought someone would have heard or know something about the heavily populated Stannington arrea?

What have "Up My Street dot com " got to say about it?

I've tried to multimap it, but there's no such street, according to them. Do you have the right Street name?

The name of the road is Deerpark Road..
The block of flats is called Cliffe View, so multimap is no good if you put in Cliffe View..

Hi ^^^^^^ & thanks for your replies, yeah i did have the wrong nmae and after multimaping the area I've also been for a breif walk round and asking a few people, the general consensus seems to be that Stannington has it's chavvy simpletons who do cause problems occasionaly but on the whole it's generally not too bad. If i get an offer I'd still probably take the flat, surely anythings got to be better than Gleadless?

chavvy simpletons

Yes a few scattered about....they are strictly for 'entertainment value' here in their ridiculous baseball cap uniforms and 'trackies'.....harmless morons, most are 'wannabee gangstas' with not much 'wannabee' about them.....1 out of 10 on the chav hostility scale......where you come from its probably more like 7 out of 10 so a definite improvement for you...

I went for a walk round and dull entertainment value they are, from the ones i've spoke to some can actually string a sentence together !! Unlike the primitive Gleadless specimens, most seem to be just fashion chavs, they don't actually do anything other than smoke a bit weed and ahve a drink.

I have a viewing here next week..heard its not bad at all! I currently live in Parson Cross where wannabee gangstas also gather stealing cars, setting fires and intimidating everyone who crosses their paths!! At least at these flats they have door entry and are high..makes me feel more at ease...

not got the best reputation. i know someone that lives just across from there and i don't think he's recommend it. also i live in the village and when i'm driving up stannngton road i do see police cars outside the flats alot. having said that i'm sure there was a thread on here a while back about the flats and a couple that live in the flats said they never had any problems

For the last few years some people believe that because they live on Stannington Road, they actually live in Stannington!
Ecclesall Road starts at the bottom of the moor, but is no where near Ecclesall.
There is a difference between Stannington Village and the modern expanded area of Stannington which lots of people aspire to,and why not !as the old village has lots of character and history, sadly lost on some folk!

They are not like they used to be. The people in them I mean. What I would do, is have a run up there one day, and ask the people who live there, and possibly the neighbours where you are going, what they are like.

i can't see it being much worse than parson cross. ideally you want to be up at the top of stannington but obviously you wont get ofered anything up this part. if you keep yourself to yourself i wouldn't of thought you'd get too much trouble. if it was me i probably would risk it, alot of flats you get offered wont be a good area anyway

well i couldn't care less what area it's classed as. i still see it as part of stannington. i stil wouldn't say it's too bad an area, even if technicaly it isn't stannington

well thats the best way, have a good look around. a guy at my work was offered a flat there or one in another area, he chose the other area but i think it was more down to the other place being bigger than the area

What is all this debate about Stannington? It all seems to centre around people who live on the council estates in Stannington. What about the people who live in the private houses on Stanington Road just down and across from the shops? I grew up on the estate around Wellington Road/Spoonhill Road, and when we moved in the address we were 'given' included 'Stannington' in it. Thats from the post office. If its good enough for the royal mail, its good enough for me. Or is this just a snobbery issue aimed at people who live in council houses? Not all people who live in council houses are trash, so stop treating them as that. A major union leader still lives in his council house, yet he earns over £100,000 a year. Stop the snobbery people!!
