James May - Am I right in thinking he's a Sheffield lad?

Looks like he spent some time in the Sheffield/Rotherham area, but was born in Bristol.

He appears to be very knock-kneed. We don't want that kind of thing round here.

Is he related to Brian May - or is it just the hair?

Poor James May, I always get the feeling he is a bit overshadowed on TG by Clarkson & Hammond. Now he gets a thread all of his own and it still gets hijacked lol

I like James on Top Gear.

He's the one who when he tests a car,he drives it how it would be on the road.

Don't get me wrong,Clarkson and Richard "I havent had my teeth done" Hammond are good too,but when they test drive they act like 12 year olds.

I also like the fact that James wont run on television!

I like watching Top Gear and would have to agree that James is not as 'big' a character as Clarkson. He has his moments though and I think the three of them work well together.
Just have to mention the last episode of the program where they were driving the three super cars down through France, I just laughed and laughed when they almost found themselves trapped in the underground hotel carpark courtesy of the rather steep kerband I was sort of hoping one of them would loose a few bits off the cars as they tried oh so carefully to ease them out onto the road.
Who in there right mind would want a super car they're horrible!!

Hammond might not have had his teeth done, but he does live in the Forest of Dean. Which might explain the big Gollum eyes...

How the heck could hammond overshadow anyone, he is only about 4 feet tall.

Jeremy Clarkson I think is a Comisborough lad, his family once owned a massive glass making factory there, and the other side of his family came from tickhill. His accent came from his public school education although every now and then it slips ( you really have to be listening quite closely but it happens).

all three of them are funny and wildly enthusiastic, and even though I know that being a petrol head is reprehensible given the damage to the environment, I cant help chuckling along when any of them is giggling like a schoolboy over a well thumbed 'razzle' at the accelerating growl of the latest sprts throbber!! :heyhey:

i think the presenters they now have are all excellent, james has certainly come out with some hilarious comments:thumbsup:

it would be nice to see jeremey actually lose one of the races they have, he always seems to win:suspect:

The weird thing with top gear is I don't drive, have no real interest in cars and yet I love that progamme to death!
All 3 presenters work really well together, it feels very natural not a 'made for tv friendship'

James May senior used to be the MD at Holbrook Precision Castings, and the site of young James sticking his fingers up to Hammond and Clarkson in these weeks episode was pure magic. :thumbsup:

I loved this weeks Top Gear I haven't laughed so much for ages when they got the cars stuck in Paris, though I wouldn't have minded the Ferrari. The Zonda was ridiculous. Or was that because Richard Hammond had to sit on a cushion to see over the wheel. Definitely the one of the funniest shows on telly!

I liked the bit in the last programme where Clarkson produced the award which the series had won for best 'unscripted' TV programme.

Clarkson, "I couldn't make it to the presentation, I was writing next week's script."

The presenters are awesome and 'Captain slow's humour is unique and i love it

Love it. Cracks me up every week. And I love that Clarkson basically sticks two metaphorical fingers up at the eco-mentalists, etc., pretty much every week. When they ran the trailers for the features coming ont he series, in the first edition, and then he went "Welcome to Greenpeace" LMAO

When he ws on that "Who Do You Think You Are" tracing his history, I think his mum now lives in Retford-ish and it took him about 10 seconds to find a relative buried in the graveyard in Tickhill as that's where most of them are. Loved it when he was pointing at people minding their own business, going "he's a cousin" :D

He was also fab guest-hosting Have I Got News For You the other week - I can't remember the line now but it was some crack about someone important (and possibly royalty) getting caught doing 60 .... "that's nothing, Diana was doing 120 when she went into that tunnel in Paris" :hihi:

Fair play to Ladyman for coming on and taking the stick about gatso's. Got to admit i am not a car fan as such but love the show even the wife does.

Watched it on tape this after half a bottle of wine (its a new show on channel 5) and couldnt stop laughing at the Germans when they were testing the new sensor and it crashed straight into the car in front.

And dont forget the legendary filming they did round here

I'd have a super car! gimme gimme! Even if I did have to fill it up with petrol and get laughed at as Clarkson was! Would prefer the Astin Martin though, please Santa.
