View Full Version : Market on Division Street - first one 29th April
cmhevents 18-03-2011, 10:30 Hello,
I am helping a team to organise a new market on Division Street. The first will be on the 29th April.
On April 29th, a brand new market will open on Devonshire Green, bringing at least 12,000 people into town and giving Sheffield Traders an opportunity to showcase there wares in the city centre. Inspired by Tramlines and run by a group of the festival’s key organisers, the Devonshire Market will be a vibrant, fun and lively event.
Inspired in part by Tramlines with a nod and a wink to Portobello and the Big European Markets – the market will have a relaxed vibe and be designed to provide a great day out for the locals. Live music, entertainment and the enthusiastic support of local traders – we reckon getting our visitors in a good mood will help make your punters spend more.
We are looking for any stall holder who would like to attend. Does anyone know of anyone that this might be of interest too?
Please get in touch for more details!
Have you got permision from Sheffield Council?
Have you got planning permision for the road to be closed?
RazorSHarp 18-03-2011, 12:29 What will the markets be selling ?
Bulgarian 18-03-2011, 12:32 What will the markets be selling ?
And will it be rip-off prices like the Continental market always is ?

12,000? That's a bold claim. Would that be bringing Sheffield based folk into town, or 12,000 tourists from out of the city?
tarceyjane 18-03-2011, 12:43 hi can you give more details like how much do the stalls cost and what is the stall pitch, do you need to have your own public liability insurance, is this market going to be on a regular basis and what kind of trader are you looking for ie new/second hand/vintage
thanks

Whilst we cant controll what the stall holders charge we have kept our costs to a minimum...with any hope they will pass that on to the customers
galanthusgal 18-03-2011, 18:02 I hope you get more than the 1200 that I predict!
How often do you expect this market to occur?
galanthusgal 18-03-2011, 18:03 Just realised the date - Royal wedding bank holiday?!
Pauline BHG 18-03-2011, 18:19 Sounds like a good idea :) I'll be down for a lookie !
Kitty666 18-03-2011, 19:09 If it is well publicised there should be a decent turn out.
Also the continental market starts on the 29th April.
DaisyBoo 19-03-2011, 10:21 Do you think it will be busy will people not be watching the wedding?

me too! my plan was to watch the royal wedding on tv (multiple times pausing and taking notes! ;))....but this seems like a much more fun way to spend a bank holiday!
plus, i can always watch the wedding on catch up...that was the plan anyway after watching it live the first time! :hihi:

purple.sarah 29-03-2011, 20:43 Looks like it will be fun! Celebrating the royal wedding with a community event like this is more interesting and traditional than sitting at home in front of the TV!
Hi,
I am an artist and would be interested in a stall at this event- can you let me know how I can apply?

Fragrantia 09-04-2011, 21:18 I can't send a PM because I haven't made enough posts, but you could perhaps PM or email details? I would love to have a stall there - I wouldn't be watching the Royal Wedding anyway!

A-N air registration is a perfect PL insurance for craft, art, design etc... cheap as well, think mine cost about £30. Not sure how much it is from other organisations though!
