years ago my friend's brother had a thing going where he was sending parcels back and forth from his mate in a jiffy bag, they put selotape over the stamp and rubbed off the franking each time.. untill the posty noticed the same envolope being deliverd time and time again... he got a right roasting off the posty :hihi:

I once heard of somebody :suspect: who would get 2 stamps - same value - with post marks at opposite sides and litterally cut n paste the good ''unfranked'' edges together with prittstick on the envelope.

Ahhh the penniless days of being a sudent nurse

*cough :suspect: aparrently

Along a similar line, when you get the pre-paid envelopes (from the bank or wherever) can you cross-out the pre-printed address and put another one ?

In other words you post something somewhere else and the bank pays for it ?

Interesting question...might there be a requirement for such envelopes to have a printed address on them that's not in the form of a label?

I did try it once nick & posted it to myself to see.

It did work but I wonder if regular abuse may land one in the soup?

You can't do it legally and it can be traced. Trust me. I worked for someone who had this problem and the company caught them. Royal Mail actively look for this sort of thing now I think aswell.

legally i suppose you could re-use an un-franked stamp....

but to be frank, morally, it's still robbing the post office, although admitedly not with a swag-bag, mask, stripey t-shirt, toy gun and a pair of tights over yer head!

:)

Damn, I'll have to just stick to my policy of filling them with junk mail from other companies then.

So it's not just me that doies this then? I try to make them heavy enough to incur excess postage as well...

i peel off unfranked stamps at work and reuse them. It's even easier now they are sticky-backed instead of gummed ones as you can peel and restick them without using glue.:)

Re-using stamps is as others have said robbing from Royal Mail.
If too many people do this, it effects Royal Mail's profits meaning they can not provide as good a service.

For the sake of a few pence, why?

Besides there are other ways of telling if a stamp has been reused besides just the fact that it has been franked.

I don't know what these methods are.
But I've come across charges being incurred for re-using stamps, although there was no evident frank mark.

However using all the pre-paid envelops to send rubbish back to whoever means the Royal Mail makes a bit of money.
