Hi

I'm wanting to be able to attach my TV to my computer to display photo's from the computers hard drive.

I have a DVD and video player and can already display photo's direct from my camera in the TV or by burning photo's onto a disc, then playing them from the DVD player.

However, it would be much easier to just attach the TV to the computer and display pictures directly - any ideas what I would need to do this?

Cheers

A video card with TV-Out, which basicaly turn your tv into a computer monitor. Very nice to watch movies/internet TV on, not just pictures

Thanks for that... and me being a complete novice on this, how much would you expect to pay for this video card?
Also, would I need to get a particular type to match my computer/TV or anything?

Thanks

have a look at your pc (or laptop) if it's relatively modern it may well already have a video out (coaxial female plug, yellow plastic interior) or an s-video out (small 5 din type female plug). In which case all you need is the appropriate cabling and input on the tv.

If not, then you need a new graphics card with the appropriate output, which will start at around £40 for a budget card.

i had an olympus camedia camera which plugged into the telly, video to view the pictures on the camera

also you can get dvd players with card readers now so you can just pop photos on a card and view them.things are getting so much easier to do stuff :)

Keep an eye out in Aldi, Lidl and Netto for their DivX DVD players that feature a card reader. The last one Lidl had was only £20 and sold out within the hour.

Or you could get a streaming media centre like the one I mentioned here (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?postid=772751#post772751)

Heh, I used to live near that Lidl... back in my uni days.

Maplins probably sell USB converters for TV out. If in doubt, just take a picture of the back of your computer and post it - if it's clear enough we can tell you if you're on the right track!
